Photography has allowed us to see historical events first-hand. In war, it has been an important factor in recreating an idea of what that experience was like. If we add moving images to this, we can be in the war zone in the foreground. This is what motivated me to watch Lee, a film that tells the story of photographer Elizabeth (Lee) Miller, who was a fashion model and became a war correspondent for Vogue magazine during the Second World War. She used her influence in the fashion world to raise a silent but powerful cry about the horrors of war, fighting a real battle to get her photographs published, capturing the truth through the lens of her camera.

I started watching the film without any expectations. I knew I would like it because it was about war and photography, and it was a story unlike any other. What's more, it is based on a true story, as it draws on the anecdotes and memories of Elizabeth (Lee) Miller, which she recounts in an interview when she was older, and her story is told through flashbacks. As she tells her story, the interviewer becomes more important, and it is only at the end that I realise who he is and what he means to this elderly woman.

It was very interesting to see the transformation of a person when she observes harsh things, and the protagonist Elizabeth, played by Kate Winslet, knew how to express those emotions, that the more sensitive she was on the inside, the tougher she appeared on the outside. What struck me most about the character was her passion for showing things as she saw them, raw, difficult, heartbreaking, but true, full of truth, at the expense of her own life and integrity. I felt a lot of anxiety and distress about the places she got herself into, the risks she took and exposed herself to for a photograph. She wasn't looking for fame or recognition, she just wanted the truth to come out. She only half succeeded in her own time, but many years later, through this interview, the missing images came out and she received the recognition she had been denied.

Elizabeth was passionate about photography and, despite being in armed conflicts and war zones, she had time for love and enjoyed sex when she wanted and how she could. She fell deeply in love, but she loved herself more, as she should! She left her partner to follow her heart and continue her mission as a war correspondent. In the end, true love never dies.

Of the whole plot of the film, what impresses me most is her change from model to war correspondent. I found the action scenes and special effects to be of high quality. Most of the film takes place in a war zone, and they took care to include elements that mark the difference in time when the events took place, but they preserve the freshness of cinema in some scenes with modern colours and nuances. This film was released in 2023, so it is not that old. Its genre is biographical, drama, war, and history. I found it very entertaining, and it touched my heartstrings in scenes that were well done for that purpose and will remain in my memory for a long time. Lee || De modelo de moda a corresponsal de guerra

La fotografía nos ha permitido ver hechos históricos en primera persona, en la guerra ha sido un factor importante para recrear una idea de lo que fue esa experiencia, si a esto le sumamos imágenes en movimiento podemos estar en zona de guerra en primer plano. Esto es lo que me motivó ver Lee, una película que narra la historia de la fotógrafa Elizabeth (Lee) Miller, quien fue modelo de moda y que se convirtió en una corresponsal de guerra para la revista Vogue durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Ella aprovechó la influencia de la moda para elevar un grito silencioso, pero contundente de los horrores de la guerra, viviendo una verdadera batalla para lograr que sus fotografías fueran publicadas, al capturar la verdad desde el lente de su cámara.

Inicie viendo la película sin expectativas, sabía que me gustaría porque trataba sobre la guerra, la fotografía y era una historia diferente a otras, además su fuente de origen es de una historia real, ya que se basa en las anécdotas y recuerdos de Elizabeth (Lee) Miller, que va relatando en una entrevista cuando ya estaba mayor, y muestran a través de flashbacks su historia. A medida que va contando es que el entrevistador cobra importancia y es al final cuando me doy cuenta quién es y que representa para esta anciana mujer.

Fue muy interesante ver la transformación de una persona cuando observa cosas duras, y la protagonista Elizabeth caracterizada por Kate Winslet supo expresar esas emociones, que mientras más sensible interiormente se veía más dura se mostraba por fuera, lo que más me llamó la atención del personaje fue su pasión por mostrar las cosas como ella las veía, crudas, difíciles, desgarradoras, pero ciertas, llenas de verdad, a costa de su propia vida e integridad, sentí mucha ansiedad y angustia por los lugares donde se metía, los riesgos que pasaba y se exponía por una fotografía, ella no buscaba la fama, ni el reconocimiento, solo quería que la verdad saliera a la luz, lo logró a medias en su época, pero muchos años después a través de esta entrevista salieron las imágenes que faltaban y le llegó el reconocimiento que se le negó.

Elizabeth era apasionada por la fotografía, y a pesar de estar en conflictos armados y territorios de guerra, tuvo tiempo para el amor, disfrutó del sexo cuando quiso y como pudo. Se enamoró profundamente, pero más se amaba a ella misma, ¡como debe ser!, dejó a su pareja para seguir su corazón y continuar con la misión de corresponsal de guerra, al final el amor verdadero nunca muere.

De todo el argumento de la película lo que más me impresiona es el cambio de faceta de modelo a corresponsal de guerra. Las escenas de acción y los efectos especiales me parecieron de gran calidad, el ambiente en su mayoría transcurre en la zona de guerra, cuidaron los elementos que marcan la diferencia de tiempo en que sucedieron los hechos, pero conservan la frescura del cine en algunas escenas con colores y matices modernos, esta película se estrenó en el 2023 no es tan antigua, su género está enmarcado en el biográfico, drama, guerra e historia. Me pareció muy entretenida y me tocó fibras sensibles en escenas bien logradas para ese fin, y que me quedarán en la memoria por mucho tiempo.
