Ser testigo o conocedor de algún crimen siempre nos va a poner en peligro y es allí cuando nuestras convicciones sobre la justicia, la verdad, la honestidad e integridad se ponen de manifiesto y muchas veces entran en conflicto perturbando la paz que teníamos.

La testigo es nuestra protagonista, una mujer mayor, activista de derechos humanos y de mentalidad abierta, que ama a las personas sin prejuicios y por esta razón no podía ocultar un hecho terrible que la involucra de forma directa. Esta historia nos ubica en la actualidad de Irán un país con una cultura conservadora extrema con las mujeres, profesando la religión del Islam que desconozco, pero a través de la película me hago la idea del machismo y pocos derechos para la mujer.

Tarlan es una mujer mayor, trabajadora que lucha por la igualdad de género, se muestra fuerte y tiene el respeto de la sociedad porque fue una profesora reconocida y aunque encuentra soluciones para los problemas de los demás en su propia familia no puede hacer mucho, uno de sus hijos está preso por deudas y el otro tiene una buena posición económica, ya que es un alto funcionario del gobierno, pero es un maltratador que golpea a su esposa por el simple hecho de que ella le gusta bailar y tiene una academia de baile.

Tarlan interfiere en la relación de su hijo para evitar la violencia, pero es inútil, su hijo sigue errado por la visión de su cultura y su nuera que es una hija adoptiva porque ella crio ama la danza y prohibirle que lo haga es matarla en vida. Esta diferencia entre los esposos hace que los problemas escalen, ocurriendo lo peor.

Durante toda la película observé a Tarlan como cualquier madre responsable que trabaja, ayuda a quien lo necesite y nunca pide ayuda para sí misma. En el argumento se percibe la angustia de estar en un país convulsivo que presiona a las jóvenes y las obliga a la sumisión, pero la señora Tarlan es como una heroína inmune hasta cierto punto que expresa su opinión sin importar las consecuencias.

Al final podemos ver lo desgastante que es hacer siempre lo correcto y se pone a prueba el carácter de la protagonista, mientras miraba sentía la desesperación de Tarlan, incluso me dieron ganas de luchar con ella, me sentí frustrada cuando no la escuchaban y no respetaban su palabra, sentí admiración por su forma de actuar y creo que si todas las personas tuvieran cualidad de este personaje el mundo sería mejor, ya que no le importó perjudicar a su hijo con tal de sacar la verdad a la luz, y cuando la justicia no hizo su parte estuvo dispuesta de actuar por su propia mano.

Al final de la película es donde llega el punto máximo de suspenso y su cierre muestra una especie de homenaje a todas esas mujeres que no se quedaron calladas, lucharon, pero perdieron su vida.

Being a witness or having knowledge of a crime will always put us in danger, and that is when our convictions about justice, truth, honesty, and integrity come to the fore and often conflict with each other, disturbing the peace we had.

The witness is our protagonist, an elderly woman, a human rights activist with an open mind, who loves people without prejudice and for this reason could not hide a terrible event that directly involved her. This story takes place in present-day Iran, a country with an extremely conservative culture towards women, which professes the religion of Islam, which I am unfamiliar with, but through the film I get an idea of the machismo and the few rights women have.

Tarlan is an older, hard-working woman who fights for gender equality. She is strong and respected by society because she was a renowned teacher, and although she finds solutions to other people's problems, she cannot do much in her own family: one of her sons is in prison for debt and the other is financially well off, as he is a senior government official, but he is abusive and beats his wife simply because she likes to dance and runs a dance academy.

Tarlan interferes in her son's relationship to prevent violence, but it is useless. Her son continues to be misguided by the views of his culture, and her daughter-in-law, who is an adopted daughter because she raised her, loves dancing, and forbidding her to practice it is like killing her alive. This difference between the spouses causes the problems to worsen, and the worst happens.

Throughout the film, I saw Tarlan as any responsible mother who works, helps those in need, and never asks for help for herself. The plot conveys the anguish of being in a turbulent country that pressures young women and forces them into submission, but Mrs. Tarlan is like a heroine who is immune to a certain extent and expresses her opinion regardless of the consequences.

In the end, we see how exhausting it is to always do the right thing, and the protagonist's character is put to the test. As I watched, I felt Tarlan's despair, and I even wanted to fight with her. I felt frustrated when they didn't listen to her and didn't respect her word. I admired the way she acted, and I think that if everyone had this character's qualities, the world would be a better place, since she didn't care about harming her son in order to bring the truth to light, and when justice didn't do its part, she was willing to take matters into her own hands.

The end of the film is where the suspense reaches its peak, and the ending shows a kind of tribute to all those women who did not remain silent, who fought, but lost their lives.
