A woman who does not know how to deal with the physical loss of her mother, who died of an illness in a short time, feels lost and self-destructs, in this process she divorces and decides to travel thousands of miles on a dangerous path as part of the purification of her soul and to regain her sense of life, a film based on the autobiographical book Wild that was one of the bestsellers in the United States, the true story of Cheryl Strayed made me identify with her pain and makes an introspection of my own life. Tears were not lacking and reflections were left over even days after watching it.

Una mujer que no sabe como lidiar con la perdida física de su madre, quien murió por una enfermedad en poco tiempo, se siente perdida y se autodestruye, en este proceso se divorcia y decide recorrer miles de kilómetros en un sendero peligroso como parte de la depuración de su alma y para recobrar su sentido de la vida, una película basada en el libro autobiográfico Salvaje que fue uno de los más vendidos en los Estados Unidos, la historia real de Cheryl Strayed hizo que me identificara con su dolor y realiza una introspección de mi propia vida. Las lágrimas no faltaron y las reflexiones sobraron incluso días después de haberla visto.

If coincidence exists for any purpose, it was no coincidence that on a dark and melancholic night I watched this film, despite my physical and mental exhaustion I started watching it at 10 pm with a duration of 1.55 minutes and finished it at midnight because of the pauses I took between sobs and thoughts not knowing what awaited me the next day, it was a long, long night that joined the day.

In the middle of the mountains and on the edge of a cliff, Cheryl sits down to rest to ease the pain in her feet, which are bleeding from the effort of the climb, her nails bleed, and she has to pull them out in order to continue. On a personal note, anyone who has ever trekked knows the pain of toenails from boot rubbing, blood pooling, nails bleeding, leaking, it's the first pain you feel in this challenge. Cheryl rips her nails off, loses a boot that falls down the mountain, and now what? How is she going to continue? There was no way she was going to go down to get it. This scene is the first minute of Wild Soul and actually places us in the middle of this adventure. In the midst of the pain, frustration and anger, she also throws the other boot.

From there the whole film is narrated in flashback, breaking the chronology of the story as the protagonist evokes memories from her childhood to the present, in them appear all the happy events and also traumatic and painful ones, which are the reason why she is making this journey, to cross practically 3 countries Mexico, USA, and Canada, to cross the Pacific ridge trail on foot, it is a 3-month walk, alone and without help going through physical and mental tests, she had to deal with guilt and a lot of pain.

The first test is that of the backpack, to bear the weight that sometimes is greater than the weight of the person who carries it, in the story that weight has to do with what you carry inside, so I observed it and I remembered the proverbs "the passenger is known by the suitcase" or the one that says "it is easier to get home when you travel light".

Si la coincidencia existe con algún propósito, no fue casualidad que en una noche oscura y melancólica viera esta película, a pesar de mi cansancio físico y mental comencé a mirarla a las 10 pm con una duración de 1.55 minutos y la terminé a media noche por las pausas que tomé entre sollozos y pensamientos sin saber lo que me esperaba al día siguiente, fue una noche larga muy larga que se unió al el día.

En medio de montañas y a la orilla de un risco Cheryl se sienta a descansar para aliviar el dolor en sus pies, que sangran por esfuerzo de la escalada, sus uñas sangran y tiene que arrancarlas para poder seguir. Como nota personal, todo el que haya hecho trekking alguna vez conoce el dolor de las uñas por el roce de la bota, sangre acumulada, uñas, pérdidas, es el primer dolor que se siente en este desafío. Cheryl al arrancar sus uñas, pierde una bota que cae por la montaña y ¿ahora qué?... ¿Cómo va a continuar? Era imposible que bajara a buscarla. Esta escena es el primer minuto de Alma Salvaje y en realidad nos ubica en la mitad de esta aventura. En medio del dolor, la frustración y la ira ella también arroja la otra bota.

Desde allí toda la película es narrada con flashback, rompiendo la cronología de la historia mientras su protagonista evoca los recuerdos desde su infancia hasta la actualidad, en ellos aparecen todos los eventos felices y también traumáticos y dolorosos, que son la razón de que esté haciendo esta travesía, recorrer prácticamente 3 países México, EE. UU., y Canadá, para cruzar el sendero de la cresta del Pacífico a pie, es una caminata de 3 meses, a solas y sin ayuda pasando por pruebas físicas y mentales, tuvo que lidiar con culpas y mucho dolor.

La primera prueba es la de la mochila, soportar el peso que a veces es mayor al peso de la persona que la carga, en la historia ese peso tiene que ver con lo que llevas dentro, así lo observe y recordé los refranes “el pasajero se conoce por la maleta” o el que dice “es más sencillo llegar a casa cuando se viaja ligero de equipaje”.

This time was insufficient to assimilate what was happening, and the death shook the protagonist. Suddenly she was alone, without her mother and not knowing what to do.

Cheryl had an ordinary life like any other person, with goals she wanted to achieve, she studied at university, she worked as a waitress, she was strong and responsible, she wanted to be someone in life, she had a husband, an exemplary mother and a brother to correct 😋😆🤭, but the death of her mother opened a deep wound that joined the old scars of her childhood and with a strong character she chose the darkest path to reveal herself and scream her fury, she just wanted to forget the pain and found herself with drugs and casual sex outside her marriage which caused the end of the marriage, increasing the pain and loneliness. Personal trauma often takes people away from their old lives and pushes them into the streets, in this case to walk in the wilderness for several months.

Cheryl had to learn to trust strangers, to welcome help, and above all to trust in her own abilities. She let her fears come out and concentrated on moving forward, resisting, overcoming. In the midst of an existential crisis, she decided to walk to become the woman her mother thought she was.

On her journey she saw many different countries, desert, snow, forest, mountains and rivers, rain and lots of sunshine. The spectator travels with her and enjoys the few minutes of rest and fun.

La mayoría de los flashbacks son de su madre, que llegan por alguna canción o cualquier objeto que le da la chispa al recuerdo, su madre una mujer joven que apenas había decidido hacer algo por ella, se había inscrito en la misma universidad que su hija cuando fue diagnosticada con Càrcer, el médico le había dado unos meses, pero no fue así y murió a las pocas semanas. Este tiempo fue insuficiente para asimilar lo que sucedía y la muerte sacudió a la protagonista. De repente estaba sola, sin su madre y sin saber qué hacer.

Cheryl tenía una vida común como la de cualquier persona, con metas propuestas que quería alcanzar, estudiaba en la universidad, trabaja de mesera, era fuerte y responsable, quería ser alguien en la vida, tenía un esposo, una madre ejemplar y un hermano a quien corregir 😋😆🤭, pero la muerte de su madre abrió una herida profunda que se unió a las viejas cicatrices de su infancia y con un carácter fuerte escogió el camino más oscuro para revelarse y gritar su furia, solo quería olvidar el dolor y se encontró con las drogas y el sexo casual fuera de su matrimonio lo que ocasionó el fin del mismo, aumentando el dolor y la soledad. Los traumas personales suelen apartar a las personas de sus antiguas vidas y las empujan a las calles, en este caso a caminar en la naturaleza por varios meses.

Cheryl tuvo que aprender a confiar en los desconocidos, a recibir ayudar y sobre todo confiar en sus propias capacidades. Dejo que sus miedos salieran y se concentró en avanzar, resistir, superarse. En medio de una crisis existencial, decide caminar hasta volver a ser la mujer que su madre creyó que era.

En su travesía vio muchos países diferentes, desierto, nieve, bosque, montañas y ríos, lluvia y mucho sol. El espectador viaja con ella y disfruta de los pocos minutos de descanso y diversión.

🎥 The music was exquisite and the almost imperceptible sound effects marked the moments of deep reflection, ending with the real photos of the real protagonist, remember that it is based on real events and with a Peruvian song that is like a hymn of liberation, freedom and victory that I had heard before, but I didn't remember its name and I had to look it up to leave it here as thanks for reaching the end and also for me, the song is called "el cóndor pasa" let it dream while you finish reading.

🎥 La música fue exquisita y los efectos de sonidos casi imperceptibles marcaron los momentos de profunda reflexión, finalizando con las fotos reales de la verdadera protagonista, recuerden que está basada en hechos reales y con una canción peruana que es como un himno de liberación, libertad y victoria que antes había escuchado, pero no recordaba su nombre y que tuve que buscar para dejarlo aquí como agradecimiento por llegar hasta el final y también para mí, la canción se titula “el cóndor pasa” déjala soñar mientras terminas la lectura.

🎥 I can't finish the subjective part of this review without mentioning that the most subliminal message of the film is to take advantage of life, to do things for you and for you, you don't know how much time you have left of this experience called life and many times we stop living to fulfil the role of being a mother, wife, daughter, granddaughter 😪🥺.

🎥 I want to mention that I saw this movie the night of February 14, 2024, this day is celebrated the day of lovers, and I was alone in the living room of the house, I felt good just tired and worried about the health of some members of my family, and it was perfect the day I chose to watch it, I didn't know it, I just gave it a scroll until its poster caught my attention, at the end I realized that it was a love movie, all kinds of love, from parents to children and vice versa, the love of a couple, the love for life and the most important of all, self-love.

🎥 I give this film a 10, it is one of those that you can watch many times without getting bored, Reese Witherspoon's performance was extraordinary and made her winner of several awards including: Oscar, Globe, BAFTA, all of them as best actress and many more. I lived through her the pain of the character, her anger and nostalgia, I saw myself reflected in several things that this woman lived, I did some stupid things just like her, today my soul has been tamed or the savage inside me is asleep, I feel good and calm. I recommend it, but remember it's not an action movie, it's about the life of a person who didn't know how to deal with mourning and how she got out of depression.

🎥 Hay dos grandes amores que mueven los hechos de Alma Salvaje: el de su madre y el de su exesposo. Estos amores duelen porque están ligados a la culpa y ya no los puede tener.

🎥 Cada quien vive el luto a su manera, algunos lo superan rápido, pero otros no saben manejarlo, a veces el dolor es tan grande que la persona se autodestruye cayendo en una espiral de drogas, sexo casual e infidelidad, son el reflejo del dolor mal manejado. De ahora en adelante, cada vez que vea una persona en condición de calle antes de que pasé algún pensamiento de crítica, me detendré, observaré y reflexionaré cuanto dolor hay en su historia y todo lo que lo rodea, familia, amigos.

🎥 Caminar, subir montañas, hacer senderos, como cualquier otro deporte extremo si lo practicas con la convicción de transformar tu vida y tu ser, será una experiencia inigualable, cosas que tal vez no creas que lograste cuando recuerdes tu pasado y veas que superaste tu fuerza física, aguantaste frío, calor, hambre, sed, dolor.

🎥 Las escenas que contienen desnudos, sexo y drogas son explícitas, pero no vulgares y ocurren en pocas fracciones de segundo, porque forman parte del recuerdo, son necesarias para justificación al personaje y le añaden relevancia a la historia.

🎥 No puedo terminar la parte subjetiva de esta reseña sin mencionar que el mensaje más subliminal de la película está en aprovechar la vida, en hacer cosas por ti y para ti, no sabes cuanto tiempo te queda de esta experiencia llamada vida y muchas veces dejamos de vivir por cumplir con el rol de ser madre, esposa, hija, nieta 😪🥺.

🎥 Quiero mencionar que vi esta película la noche del 14 de febrero de 2024, este día se celebra el día de los enamorados y estaba sola en la sala de la casa, me sentía bien solo cansada y preocupada por la salud de algunos miembros de mi familia, y fue perfecto el día que escogí para verla, no la conocía solo le di scroll hasta que su póster llamo mi atención, al final me di cuenta de que era una película de amor, de todo tipo de amor, el de padres a hijos y viceversa, el amor de pareja, el amor por la vida y el más importante de todos el amor propio.

🎥 Le doy un 10 a esta película, es de esas que puedes ver muchas veces sin aburrirte, la actuación de Reese Witherspoon fue extraordinaria y la hizo ganadora de varios premios entre ellos: Óscar, Globo, BAFTA, todos ellos como mejor actriz y muchas más. Vivi a través de ella el dolor del personaje, su ira y nostalgia, me vi reflejada en varias cosas que vivió esta mujer, hice algunas tonterías igual que ella, hoy mi alma ha sido domada o la salvaje dentro de mí está dormida, me siento bien y en calma. La recomiendo, pero recuerda que no es una película de acción, es de la vida de una persona que no supo lidiar con el luto y de cómo salió de la depresión.
