I am very close to finish with this journey, after the elaboration and structured review of this special episode or ova below, I would only need 1 more movie to finish with all this, and what follows is really something very good, both in plot, animation, music and combat, it is weak in some little things but that is compensated greatly with the points that I mentioned before, and it could be said that those aspects where it falters are linked to the continuity factor or in this case the time, but they are not so great in my opinion although I could be wrong, it is a mere observation, I will talk in more detail about this later when I give my opinion on that subject, this as such would not be a movie but rather an ova or a special episode, but curiously for being that, it is mostly well prepared as far as it goes.

It should be noted that, as I have already mentioned several times in my previous reviews, the events that are reflected in this feature film are not canonical or are linked to the linear plot, but curiously this is a special episode that explains certain events of a different timeline to the original saga, although in Dragon Ball Super much of the content that has been presented at the time about what happened in this ova is not currently canonical, and as Dragon Ball Super does follow this continuity, certainly everything that happened here is not an exception, however much of the aspects as well as the structure consolidated here certainly served as a reference, in some aspects for a certain saga in Dragon Ball Super but I will also talk about that later in more detail, so without further ado this time I bring you the warriors of the future Gohan and Trunks.

Synopsis / Sinopsis

In this timeline, we are immersed and witness an apocalyptic world due to the incessant attacks for fun, of the androids of Dr. Gero number 17 and 18, in addition to this another very important factor for all this to develop in this way, is the absence of Goku since he died due to a terrible heart disease, which has left the z-warriors to fight this threat and not turn out very well. So that responsibility and task now falls on two figures which are Gohan and Trunks.

And well finally we are in the section that I like the most and it's about time to talk about this ova or special episode, basically the events that unfold here are the unfortunate situation that was lived, with the androids in the absence of one of the strongest figures at the time, which is Goku and if we remember well after the events that occurred in the saga of Freezer, this was the only one that to some extent could do something relevant against them, but unfortunately after his death by heart disease, the thing changes considerably and besides that trying to fight and survive in an apocalyptic environment generated by these androids as well as the death of the warriors z one by one before them is quite serious and it is here where we are shown this version of Gohan more adult, and become a warrior in essence even though compared to Gohan of our timeline this is weaker, but certainly has aspects as well as a conviction linked to protect and fight in a more determined way, however difficult the situation may be.

Personally there are several aspects linked to this version of Gohan despite his tragic ending, that get to you, first the decision to leave his calm nature to try to be a pillar and face a threat, that not only destroyed human lives but also his closest loved ones, besides being a tutor or teacher for Trunks in his own way, feeling limited certainly since his father is not present to instill in him the bases to transcend that state of basic super saiyajin and variations bases, remember that in this line those things did not happen, so he just does what he can and instills what he knows to Trunks through trial and error, the not giving up factor in this version of Gohan I really like as well as his perseverance, but I didn't like so much the methods of training Trunks and the high expectation towards him, when he was certainly more experienced I think there was a somewhat misguided approach by this version of Gohan there, but discarding that I really like this version although it is weaker, I feel it represents many things of what should be the Gohan of our line or at least rescue certain things of him.

Now if we look at the animation section I can tell you that obviously I have no complaints here in this section, it really has a good animation and a good dynamism and fluidity in the fights, things or strong points in this franchise, and as I mentioned before as the years go by each movie, it is noted that they work and give a more detailed emphasis on certain aspects of their films and curiously in this case, shines much in the aspect of the battles typical in this franchise, in addition to that a good coloring by the characters good fluidity in general, perhaps in some things better than others.

In relation to the plot, it is really quite good as far as it goes because in this different timeline, we are shown a different vision and is the impact at first instance of the death and absence of Goku and the apocalyptic world in which we live, by androids and fear that influence societies, in addition to this we are shown a much greater strength of these androids compared to those of the original timeline that we follow and a greater evil, seeing not only this impotence but also how through the exploits of Gohan, Trunks grows through it and gradually matures and this is seen more than anything when he reaches the present of our timeline, because after what happened in that different line takes certain impulsive and impatient traits, it is after a certain outcome that he had in a negative way with those androids, that he rethinks his situation and forms a better personality in our timeline, taking the teachings and affection of his master with him, although in the manga it is very different in some aspects but the essence is maintained, however much of these events that were shown in this ova were left aside or modified for a certain saga of Dragon Ball Super, that is to say the saga of Goku Black, However, despite this, this one has a very strong impact, another lack is the theme of time travel and some slight gaps in the script or writing that certainly lead to the saga of Cell (of which this ova is linked) or the use of the time machine, aspects that Toriyama tried to improve or modify much later when Dragon Ball Super was made.

In relation to the setting I can say that basically at first instance, we are shown as spectators the world in tragedy and death that is lived by the androids, and we are shown in various planes as their malice and fun to destroy and exterminate ah affected many, all this is clearly seen in the cities and deaths in their steps, a decadent and discouraging panorama accompanied by all this a good music in the fighting and background in every way, it is quite enjoyable, considering that the osts of the Cell saga was applied.

And with this I end this review, it really is an ova that I would recommend to see an alternative side of our timeline, and the impact of one and several figures in a time in which things are worse, really worth it was very complete, curious considering that it would not be a movie at all hahaha but well I liked it and that's why I upload it here, I would be missing a movie genuinely speaking as such to finish this journey, so when I am more free I will upload it, so thank you very much for coming and reading this far, I hope you have enjoyed reading it and without more to say until next time.
