A Thriller For Tonight

Black Phone 2

Four years ago, 13-year-old Fin, who killed his kidnapper and managed to escape, became the sole survivor of “The Grabber.” But true evil transcends death, and the phone rings again. Sequel to the successful 2021 film. Is it worth your attention?

🟢🟢🟢🟢

  • Interesting change of protagonist, with the sister now taking the lead.
  • Ethan Hawke is once again very good.
  • The Grabber as a character is still quite frightening, though with less physical presence.
  • Scott Derrickson’s direction is at a solid level, and some scenes are visually wow.
  • The portrayal of psychological trauma is handled nicely.
  • It has a pretty good jumpscare.
  • Quite a few splatter touches.
  • The dream sequences are inventive and intense.

🔴🔴🔴🔴

  • Not as scary overall. Despite some good jumpscares, it did not give me the chills I was expecting.
  • It felt inferior to the first film and quite different in tone.
  • The children’s father seemed untalented to me and did not come across as their father at all 🤷‍♂️.
  • The first part has a somewhat slow pace.
  • Some dialogues are longer than necessary.
  • Certain scenes are repeated and feel more contrived.

The Strangers: Chapter 2

The plot centers on Maya, who, after surviving the attack by the masked killers, finds herself in the hospital of the isolated town of Venus, Oregon. However, the killers follow her there, unleashing new moments of terror and survival. Is it worth it? Hell, no!

🟢🟢🟢🟢

  • Some interesting directorial shots.
  • The ending is somewhat tolerable, even though it leaves you with a cliffhanger.
  • It is more interesting than the first film, I will give it that 🤣

🔴🔴🔴🔴

  • The lead actress seems so untalented to me that even if I wanted to believe in the film, she completely ruins it 🤷‍♂️
  • Part of a trilogy, yes, but there is absolutely no reason for this sequel to exist.
  • The scene with the wild boar is just laughable 👎
  • The film has no script. Plain and simple.
  • It has zero tension, even though it throws one chase scene after another at you.
  • Endless clichés.
  • Performances below average overall.

I've watched it but honestly I find the second part boring I really prefer the first movie.
