Does the week starts on Wednesday?

The series is based on the classic Addams family, but very quickly takes its own turn, acquires its own character.

Ortega's "Wednesday" is cold enough, perhaps to a different degree than Christina Ricci's. She is a girl who, in "normal" terms, we would probably describe as Goth. But that is not all. She quickly shows that she is a regular protagonist of a (metaphysical) series. What I mean? She makes friends, goes on dates, evolves and becomes "more human". She struggles to find her place in an environment that does not accept her - logical, since she was the outsider - while at the same time she has to unravel secrets of the past and fight for the salvation of the Outcasts. So if she takes off the mantle of dark and cold girl and sees her for what she really is, a typical metaphysical fantasy series heroine (with potions, visions, werewolves, vampires, anthropomorphic creatures and mermaids among others), she is very good indeed.

Luis Guzman and Katherine-Zeta Jones' Gomez and Morticia also carry some of the coldness of their characters, but are quite different from their predecessors. Gomez does not have the charm of Raul Julia, but he has a great passion for his wife. I wouldn't say I was that crazy about his performance. Of course, he didn't have much participation. On the contrary, Jones definitely brought something of the aura of the unique Angelica Houston. She was a detached Morticia at first, but more human afterwards. A femme fatale with a fragile past, which justifies her subsequent development.

He may have been a bit part, but Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester was a standout.

The student cast largely managed to live up to the expectations of such a series, while Gwendolyn Christie stole the show as the strict but very charming headmistress who antagonizes the female lead when necessary.

Finally, special mention goes to Christina Ricci, the original Wednesday Adams, the one we grew up with. Her role, a bit indifferent at the beginning...Of course, her presence alone was very important, because it was as if she was handing over the baton of the role to Ortega. Very quickly, however, it was obvious that he was hiding something. Indeed, from the beginning I suspected that she was who she turned out to be. It's not possible that Christina Ricci was just playing the part! And she was indeed excellent. Especially in the last two episodes. (I'm not saying much, don't spoil any more than I already have for anyone who hasn't seen it yet).

The style of the series screams Tim Burton for miles. Dark and sometimes creepy, like the music, was his signature. The series reminded me of Dark Shadows at times.some parts strongly reminded me of other series (even Riverdale I would say).

In my opinion the series was entertaining thanks to the setting and photography (Burton's own), the sountrack and Ortega's performance, the rest, too many clichés, poor performance of secondary characters, predictable story and making Merlina a Mary Sue made it not a good work, I really hope that if they bring out a second season, they improve those aspects because it is a material that can give much more

It will probably return for a season 2 since it became the most viewed series in Netflix
