Zootopia 2

Detectives Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde are on the trail of a mysterious reptile that arrives in Zootopia and turns the animal metropolis upside down. To solve the case, Judy and Nick must go undercover in unexpected new parts of the city, where their partnership is tested like never before.

Is it worth watching? Absolutely.

🟢🟢🟢🟢

  • The animation is flawless, which is hardly a surprise.
  • I really enjoyed the deeper exploration of Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde's relationship.
  • I couldn't stop laughing at the hilarious Ratatouille reference.
  • Some of the meta and cinephile references are brilliant.
  • The voice cast is excellent.
  • It's funny, highly entertaining, and enjoyable for both kids and adults.
  • The pacing is fast and keeps things engaging throughout.
  • It brings back the neo noir atmosphere, which I loved.
  • Plenty of exciting action and great chemistry between the characters.
  • The script includes some clever wordplay.
  • It highlights themes such as prejudice and racism.

🔴🔴🔴🔴

  • It plays things a bit too safe.
  • It's less inventive than the original, though not to a distracting degree.
  • The ending felt a little underwhelming.
  • Some of the flashbacks were a bit unclear.
  • There are so many characters and storylines that, understandably, not all of them receive enough development.

The Wrecking Crew

The Wrecking Crew follows two estranged half brothers, Detective Johnny (Jason Momoa) and Navy SEAL James (Dave Bautista), who reunite after their father's mysterious death in Hawaii. As they uncover a conspiracy that threatens their family, they are forced to put their differences aside and work together.

Is it worth watching? It's the perfect pick for a lazy Sunday afternoon.

🟢🟢🟢🟢

  • It's a lot of fun, which is clearly what the movie sets out to be, making for a very enjoyable watch.
  • Momoa and Bautista have great on screen chemistry.
  • There are some really entertaining action sequences.
  • The humor works well, and unsurprisingly, Momoa gets the best one liners.
  • The Hawaiian setting is absolutely gorgeous.
  • The direction does a solid job throughout.
  • A decent and engaging story.
  • I loved the nostalgic 90s style aesthetic.
  • It strikes a nice balance between action and comedy.

🔴🔴🔴🔴

  • Some of the visual effects are a bit over the top, especially during the third act.
  • A few of the violent scenes feel a little too cartoonish, though not enough to be distracting.
  • It leans on a few predictable genre clichés.
  • As I said, the story is decent, just don't go in expecting a particularly deep screenplay.
  • Some supporting characters exist mainly to move the plot forward.
  • A slightly shorter runtime would have made it even better, as it drags in a few places.
