• Robert Pattinson is the best part of the film. A standout performance.

• The script starts with a strong and original concept… at first. But eventually, it kind of loses the thread.

• An anti-capitalist satire.

• Bong Joon-ho tackles complex social questions and presents them in a light, almost effortless way—it’s a gift, really.

• The sci-fi aspect? Not bad.

• This film has multiple layers of meaning, and on at least one of them, it’s bound to connect with part of the audience.

• Stunning set design and cinematography.

• It’s a weird movie. Just when you start enjoying what you’re watching… you suddenly don’t

• Mark Ruffalo’s performance didn’t work for me at all.

• The pacing is off, dragging down the overall impact.

• The script struggles with coherence.

• The ending? Very basic.

• The humor—whether dark or not—didn’t really land for me in all parts of the film.

THE ALTO KNIGHTS

Barry Levinson reunites with Robert De Niro for the crime drama The Alto Knights, in which the legendary actor takes on a double role, portraying two iconic figures of 1950s New York mafia: Vito Genovese and Frank Costello. Longtime friends, these two crime bosses see their relationship strained by personal ambition, leading to a ruthless power struggle. Another mafia-centered film—does it bring anything new to the table?

• Robert De Niro delivers a strong performance—two of them, in fact (though I’m not sure why he had to play both roles).

• The meticulous visual recreation of the 1950s is a treat for the eyes.

• The acting overall is at a solid level.

• Close-up shots, especially during face-to-face confrontations, add intensity.

• Well-directed.

• Beautiful cinematography.

• Sharp dialogue that will thrill fans of the genre.

• The mix of jazz and orchestral music didn’t impress me personally.

• The pacing is off, making it hard to stay engaged.

• There are slow parts that feel boring.

• It could’ve been shorter.

• Some characters aren’t developed enough.

• The biggest issue for me is that it lacked that “cinematic feel”—it felt more like a streaming movie.
