The Woman in Cabin 10

A journalist takes on a very attractive assignment for the travel magazine she works for, aboard an ultra-luxurious cruise ship whose only passengers are some of the richest people in the world. A dream assignment that turns into a nightmare when she sees a passenger being thrown into the sea after a violent incident. The next day, however, none of the passengers is missing and the ship continues its journey as if nothing happened. Is it worth watching?

🟢🟢🟢🟢

  • It has a claustrophobic atmosphere.
  • The rest of the cast is decent in their roles.
  • It starts well and remains interesting until you learn what is really going on (although it is slightly slow) but…*
  • A lot of money clearly went into the production and it shows.
  • Thankfully, the runtime is ideal at 90 minutes 😅.

🔴🔴🔴🔴

  • The script has issues and lacks narrative depth.
  • The killer’s reveal and the twist are meh… no real surprise and nothing original.
  • *…but the whole thing falls apart because the tension never really builds and the reveal is not that strong.
  • Keira Knightley’s performance didn’t work for me at all here.
  • The direction fails to achieve its goal.
  • The editing feels strange.
  • It uses quite a few clichés of the genre.
  • In some flat moments, it becomes boring.

Scary Movie

It all begins when a beautiful and popular high school student is found murdered in the garden of her house. A group of students, who have a completely wrong perception of what is happening around them, begin to suspect that the killer is among them. If all this sounds familiar, you are not far off. As the story gradually unfolds, however, a series of outrageous and slightly macabre surprises derail the film’s plot, filling it with surreal situations and unexpected twists.

And who doesn’t know this parody of teen horror films, which spawned several sequels and mainly pokes fun at Scream and other successful films of that era such as I Know What You Did Last Summer, The Sixth Sense, The Matrix, and The Blair Witch Project.

Its humor is often crude and sometimes quite biting. It has a few funny moments that make you smile, though not necessarily laugh out loud. It definitely created its own style of comedy and mainly appeals to a younger audience. Overall, it is simply an okay movie, as long as you watch it knowing what to expect and without expecting a masterpiece.
