Watch This Tonight
Pluribus
The story begins in a world affected by a virus that transforms people into an almost 'happy' entity that functions as a collective consciousness. Carol, a romance novelist, is one of the few who remain unaffected and must figure out what exactly is happening and how humanity can be saved. Is it worth watching?
🟢🟢🟢🟢
- An excellent first episode, in my opinion.
- Rhea Seahorn is rightly receiving praise for her performance. She is outstanding. Her acting feels raw, realistic, and naturally authentic.
- The production design is also very good.
- The central concept is fresh and interesting (although the execution lost me a bit at times). It stands apart from the usual sci-fi ideas.
- The series makes you stop and think 😉.
- It builds atmosphere effectively.
- Cinematic quality in terms of direction.
- I really liked the show's use of silence.
🔴🔴🔴🔴
- It's quite slow-burning. Although it starts strongly, it reveals information very gradually afterward.
- It stretches a central story across 9 episodes when it could have been told in fewer; there are relatively few major developments 🤷♂️.
- I missed having a real plot twist (personal opinion).
- If you're expecting a series packed with action, given its premise... NOPE 😅.
Goodbye June
The story centers on a family that reunites shortly before the holidays as their mother, June, faces serious health issues. Tensions and revelations among the four adult siblings and their father create an emotionally charged atmosphere that profoundly affects their relationships. Is it worth watching?
🟢🟢🟢🟢
- The cast is exceptionally strong, featuring Helen Mirren as June, Toni Collette, Andrea Riseborough, Timothy Spall, and of course Kate Winslet.
- This is Kate Winslet's directorial debut, and it works well enough given the film's subject matter.
- It offers touching moments without resorting to melodrama.
- It gives its characters room to develop naturally.
- A realistic portrayal of family relationships.
- Strong chemistry among the cast members.
- Family, loss, and reconnection are at the heart of the story.
🔴🔴🔴🔴
- It contains the expected clichés of the genre.
- It's fairly quiet and understated, though not in a way that becomes bothersome.
- It's quite predictable, especially if you're familiar with this type of film.
- Structurally, the movie has some flaws.
- I felt it never quite reaches its full potential.
- It doesn't bring anything new to the genre. You watch it and move on.

I been meaning to give it a watch.
Better Call Saul --- had me wanting to give it a try.
I reviewed this some time ago. I found it intelligent and gripping. I didn't find it slow at all. When I wrote my review I had major spoilers. I found this necessary because the build up to the end was the story. Every piece was essential to the end.
Here go my spoilers. For anyone reading this comment:stop!! I'm going to give stuff away here.
The earth people are being farmed. They are not being killed, but they are being farmed. Notice how all dead bodies are harvested. Not one bit of dead human is wasted. Notice the attention to the rail lines. They need these lines to transport the 'food'. Notice the liquified human bodies--milk--which is the only nutrition the infected consume.
It's true the infected cannot kill directly. However, death by collateral damage is OK. And there is a lot of collateral damage. Notice the conservation of energy, so that beams can be sent into space and the infection spread. More planets to be conquered, more 'food' to be harvested.
I thought the show was brilliant. Clues all around and all of them leading to Season two (also notice that Carol gets an atomic bomb).
Alright...you can see I really liked this show :)
