What To Watch Tonight
A Knives Out Mystery: Wake Up Dead Man
Detective Benoit Blanc teams up with an honest young priest to solve an unlikely crime in a small-town church that hides a dark past. The third installment in the Knives Out franchise. Is it worth your attention? Definitely yes.
🟢🟢🟢🟢
- Josh O'Connor is the best part of the film.
- Daniel Craig is also quite good, it’s a role that suits him.
- Great chemistry between the two leads.
- Josh Brolin and Glenn Close are, as always, solid in what they do.
- Directorially, Rian Johnson does a very good job.
- The murder mystery is strong, with an engaging story.
- The theme of faith is handled nicely, without the film taking a firm stance, while still touching on its social implications 👏
- A satisfying climax.

- Mila Kunis feels somewhat out of place here, or to be less harsh, miscast. At least her role isn’t a big one.
- Daniel… why that hair? 😅
- The rest of the cast felt a bit weak, aside from those mentioned in the positives.
- The runtime could have been slightly shorter, although I didn’t get bored.
Frankenstein
Victor Frankenstein, as a young doctor, shocks the medical establishment of Edinburgh by presenting his study on how to defeat death and bring life back to a dead human body. Frankenstein goes on to create a new creature, which soon faces the brutal behavior and arrogance of its creator. Is it worth it? Absolutely yes.
🟢🟢🟢🟢
- Jacob Elordi steals the show from Oscar Isaac, who is also very good.
- A highly polished production, visually spectacular, with costumes, hair, and makeup executed to perfection.
- Beautiful cinematography, a world immersed in light and shadow.
- Guillermo del Toro once again does an excellent job direction-wise.
- The script thoughtfully explores ethical questions about creator and creation, alienation, arrogance, and more.
- A well-known story, but presented with a fresh perspective without distorting it.

- You won’t be scared, but that doesn’t seem to be the point anyway.
- The beautification of certain elements may feel slightly off.
- I don’t quite understand why it’s 2.5 hours long. Cutting a few scenes would have made it feel more complete.
