I read it in my teens. I watched the David Lynch movie again recently and I still enjoy it. This new one does seem pretty faithful from what I remember. As for LOTR Peter Jackson did change a few things that I know annoy some Tolkien nerds. I accept that things have to change in a movie. Even 3 hours is not enough to cover all from a long book and a lot of the audience won't have read it. With these big budgets you have to reach a mass audience.

Oops, very late reply!

Yeah I mean I heard some complaints, like Christopher Lee (Saruman) being harshly underrepresented into irrelevance beyond the first movie. But my friend's dad who was an absolute cherishing lover of the books and refused to watch the movies knowing it'll spoil things, eventually came around to watch and even he said it was actually really well done all things considered. So... that's the review I trusted.

I wonder if anyone is complaining about the Dune movies this time over comparing to the books...?
