CineTV Contest: Martyrs (2008)

Martyrs is a French film directed and written by Pascal Laugier.

In general not many will see a French film because most people do not like to read subtitles but Martyrs quickly became infamous for its brutality and its horrifying experience.

I will put it very simple: if you hate someone tell him to watch this movie. The movie is exceptional but i do not want to see it again.
Wait a minute. I suggest a movie that i do not want to see again? Intriguing. Isn't it?
A friend of mine suggested the film and when i asked him what is it about he refused to tell me anything. Even about the genre of the film. 'The less you know the better' he said.

The film starts with 10 year old Lucy who escapes from her captors. She was imprisoned,abused(not sexually) and tortured. The police found where she was held captive but Lucie is unable to tell the authorities anything further about her time in captivity or the people who kept her there. She grows up in an orphanage where she becomes friend with Anna.
Fast forward 15 years, Lucy rings the bell in front of a big house. She thinks that the family that lives in that house is responsible for everything that happened to her as a child. The door opens and you get the first shock. WTF is going to happen in this movie? The rollercoaster of horror starts...
After these events Lucy calls her friend Anna to come and help her. Only if Anna knew what was going to happen.

I do not want to know many things about the plot of a film so i won't go deep. Pascal Laugier has a dark mind. This is a Love it or Hate it film. It is one part revenge, one part cerebral thriller one part horror film. It is an uncomfortable film. You must have a strong stomach and an open mind. I still can't forget this movie. You have been warned.
