I wouldn't have guessed that I would see a Nollywood movie and even go as far as writing a review of it. I finished watching Warrior Nun, and I did not know what to see again. I have the smart download feature on my Netflix, so usually, when I am connected to a wifi, it downloads my series automatically, plus new suggestions. My sister occasionally makes use of my Netflix account, so that should explain why a Nollywood movie was downloaded. I decided to actually see it and wow. It was something.

ABOUT

The film is a Nollywood romantic comedy movie that is about a young wealthy bachelor, Nonso (played by Timini Egbuson) who was planning on proposing to his girlfriend, Chioma (played by Sophie Alakija). Nonso already planned the evening with his friend and Chioma's best friend to be the best night, but things took a different turn when his ex-girlfriend visited him that night and swallowed his $22,000 engagement ring, or so they thought. And so the rollercoaster ride began. The group tried to get the ring out of her, while she (Nonso's ex) was trying to elope and make a run for it with the ring.

THE BAD

I am not a big fan of Nollywood movies but this wasn't too bad, but as always, there were some very unimpressive things. First off, the acting was sub-par. I was not impressed at all. From the very first scene, I was thinking; "what in the world???". Then there were the unnecessarily gross scenes. Meddling with faeces, showing some cringe scenes and ideas, that left me really disgusted. I felt my skin crawl at some point. There were way too many implausible scenes too.

THE GOOD

I do give credit to the makers. It is a step in the right direction for the industry though. A bit more sophisticated scenes. A better script, also humor were also present every now and then, making it live up to that comedy genre, and then the actor added that bit of 'Nigerianess'. The setting was also nice. The romantic part was impressive too. Something lovers of the genre would appreciate (like my sister, xd). Another love story was also brewing in the background away from the protagonist. A bit cliche, but acceptable.

STREAM OR SKIP

I am not going to lie, I am on the fence with this one. The fact that I actually finished seeing it, is a positive on its own. I usually abandon any film or material I find uninteresting instead of torturing myself. I think the overall idea, and the itty-bitty shenanigans were laughable. There is also a grave lesson to take out from this. It is something I always look out for in any movie. If I have to pick a side, I'd say skip. Gross and disgusting scenes, sub-par acting, cringe conversations, implausible actions, etc. Are a few shortcomings that marred what seemed a decent leisure film. Yeah, I know, I am still undecided; but if you have something else to see, then by all means.

Thank you for reading my film review-ish. This one is how I saw the film. Do tell me if you think otherwise, I might have missed something or even misinterpreted it. Also, go check it out if you haven't. You might have a different opinion. Till next time. Cheers.
