► About

Well it is a classic Hollywood take on Robin Hood. It has everything you want from an action film and pays an homage to the original story. Not only that it has one of th ebest movie villians of all time, playing the evil Sheriff of Nottingham.

► What you loved about it

Now this is a film I had to love. To me it is a flawless piece of popcorn. It is wildly inaccurate and piece of make believe but that make believe is so real it takes you away in to the rather glossy world of Robin Hood with some great perfomances and a candy floss script. Not only that the theme song by Bryan Adams was at number one in the UK charts for like ever and you really could not escape this film and song in 1991!

► Why is Alan Rickman the greatest Villian.

This is a classic Rickman over acting perfomance. He could be being a badie at a christmas pantomine it is so over the top. However Rickman was a legend of his generation, everytime he takes to the screen in this film he steals it. He not only steals it from all the other actors he does it in a brazen and effortless way, it is like he turned up on set and said to the other actors that he would steal every scene and there was nothing they could do about it.

► Top Rickman moments.

Well lets start with cut your heart out with a spoon.....

His desperation and face in the scene where he is talking to the hag, the close ups on his face are brillaint. To be fair this is one of the scenes in the film where Geraldine McEwan gives hiim a run for his acting money!

Probably the embodiment of Alan Rickmans performance in this film is his death scene. As over the top and dramtic as every other scene he is in, but this time he pushes it to 11!

► Why do you think it's significant and great.

He really is an actor who in every film he plays in the most captivating of actors, I mean he pretty much stole a multi billion pound franchise as his role of Snape in Harry Potter. If you cannot appreciate his genius of a perfomance as the Sherif of Nottingham then you better go and cut your own heart out with a spoon......
