Hello everyone! I would like to tell you about one of my favorite series, which is based on a comic that I liked a lot. I confess that the topic of superheroes is not from my favorites and I am not from reading comics either, because I prefer another type of reading. However, the story of The Maxx, as bizarre and different, made me completely read the comic and it was wanting more. Thanks to my older brother, which is good to find interesting stories, not only showed me the comic, but also the animated series of 13 episodes that took out of the same and which, narrates a little of this peculiar superhero and its journey.

The premise poses that people, at least, are wearing between two worlds: the real world and the subconsive. The real world, is where we make our lives, being limited to its rules and therefore, things do not happen as we would like to be … but, on the other hand, the world of subconscious would be that space where people can be free, being those who want to be or by The world of subconsive varies from person in person, but in the plot, it is about ** pangea **, a wild area of Australia where it governs ** The Leopard Queen ** and its faithful protector ...

Among the characters we have Julie Winters, in the real world she is an independent social worker, she is responsible for helping the needy, attended her cases with a certain degree of raw and wearing revealingly. It has a traumatic past that led it to leave its architecture studies and to unconsciously create the world of Pangea, which acts as a kind of mental lagoon to cope with the pain that has not yet managed to heal itself and the fact of living in a city full of injustice, crime and a rapist / killer in series making their misdeed and sinister, that from time to time calls it to stocke it, looking to tell you things that "do not want to hear".

On the other hand, we have Maxx, the protagonist of history. He is a vagabond who lives in a box in an alley. He is supported at all times by Julie, who lets him stay at his home and even pay his bail when he gets into trouble. His appearance is that of a large man with a purple suit and a mask. It is quite strong, melancholic, dependent and of little reasoning. He does not know almost anything about his past and the strangest thing … without being able to avoid it, he has the ability to connect with Pangea, the subconsive world of Julie Winters, where she is her queen and always ends up protecting her. Although entering and leaving both worlds without control, it ends up leading itself to be unable to know what the real thing is and that no, which becomes a kind of psychological torture for poor masked man and his struggle, apparently meaningless.

We can not forget Mr gone, my favorite character and the one that would be the villain in history. He is a student of the mystical arts, causing the series of murders that have been hitting the city. Like Maxx, it can move between the two worlds, although voluntarily. It has its secuces, the izses, some eyesless creatures that are capable of camouflaged in the real world using casual clothes, using them as messengers or perform dirty jobs. Mr Gone tries to kill Maxx, since he does not allow Julie to approach, because he thinks he has planned to hurt him … Since only Mr Gone knows Julie’s past, the strange tie that unites Maxx and what is under the mask … and knowing this, it would be the end of everything.

Another recurring characters is Sarah, a teenager who uses glasses with problems of his age, who usually goes to sessions with Julie, by orders from his mother, because in a way, he has not been able to overcome his father’s terrible death His pessimistic and fatalist attitude, as a protection, has led her to conceive the idea of becoming a writer and as such, the traumatic events that live, are part of her process as a writer. She ends up enveloping themselves in the strange situations of the purple masked and to engage then, in his own subconsive world.

Undoubtedly, it is a different superhero story. I love how bizarre mixed with psychological themes and The Maxx, that dose is perfectly served. We will not just see scenes of action, but will be developed little by little the mystery that envelops the protagonists and in the least unexpected way. I had the opportunity to see the animated series after having read the comic and I must confess that it is from my favorites. I felt somewhat identified on several occasions, because I did not know that we all believe that “fantastic world” or the “other world”, to escape our problems, either when reading a book or doing something we like … at that moment, we are the version of us that Of course, I could not forget to mention the soundtrack of the series, I really loved her and I feel it is in accordance with the animation. No more to add, I recommend you ardamuente not only that you see the animation of The Maxx, but the comic is read, since the animated version is even good, it has many argumental cuts and I assure you that you will enjoy this jewel double, I hope to promote myself with more frames as you are and that to them, they are offered the attention they deserve.

¡Hola a todos! Me gustaría hablarles de una de mis series favoritas, la cual está basada en un cómic que me gustó muchísimo. Confieso que el tema de superhéroes no es de mis favoritos y tampoco soy de leer cómics, pues prefiero otro tipo de lectura. Sin embargo, la historia de The Maxx, tan bizarra y diferente, hizo que me leyera por completo el cómic y quedara con ganas de más. Gracias a mi hermano mayor, que es bueno encontrando historias interesantes, no sólo me mostró el cómic, sino tambien la serie animada de 13 episodios que sacaron de la misma y la cual, narra un poco de éste peculiar superhéroe y su travesía.

La premisa nos plantea que las personas, por lo menos, se encuentran cavilando entre dos mundos: El mundo real y el subconsiente. El mundo real, es donde hacemos nuestras vidas, estando limitados a sus normas y por tanto, las cosas no ocurren como quisieramos que fueran... pero, por otro lado, el mundo del subconsciente vendría siendo ese espacio en donde las personas pueden ser libres, siendo quienes quieran ser o por lo menos, adquiriendo la fortaleza que no poseen en el mundo real. El mundo del subconsiente varía de persona en persona, pero en en la trama, se trata de Pangea, una zona salvaje de Australia en donde gobierna La reina Leopardo y su fiel protector...

Entre los personajes tenemos a Julie Winters, en el mundo real ella es una trabajadora social independiente, se encarga de ayudar a los necesitados, atendiendos sus casos con cierto grado de crudeza y vistiendo reveladoramente. Tiene un pasado traumático que la llevó a dejar sus estudios de arquitectura y a crear inconscientemente el mundo de Pangea, el cual actua como una especie de laguna mental para sobrellevar el dolor que aún no ha logrado sanar por si misma y el hecho de vivir en una ciudad llena de injusticias, delincuencia y un violador/asesino en serie haciendo sus fechorías a diestra y siniestra, que de vez en cuando la llama para atosigarla, buscando de contarle cosas que "no desea oír".

Por otro lado, tenemos a Maxx, el protagonista de la historia. Él es un vagabundo que vive en una caja en un callejón. Es apoyado en todo momento por Julie, quien lo deja quedarse en su casa e incluso, paga su fianza cuando se mete en problemas. Su apariencia es la de un hombre de gran tamaño con un traje morado y una máscara. Es bastante fuerte, melancólico, dependiente y de poco razonamiento. No conoce casi nada de su pasado y lo más extraño... sin poder evitarlo, tiene la habilidad de conectarse con Pangea, el mundo subconsiente de Julie Winters, en donde ella es su reina y siempre acaba protegiéndola. Aunque entrar y salir de ambos mundos sin control, lo acaba llevando a ser incapaz en ocasiones, de saber qué es el real y que no, lo cual se vuelve una especie de tortura psicológica para el pobre hombre enmascarado y su lucha, aparentemente sin sentido.

No podemos olvidar a Mr Gone, mi personaje favorito y el que vendría siendo el villano de la historia. Es un estudiante de las artes místicas, causante de la serie de asesinatos que han estado azotando la ciudad. Al igual que Maxx, puede moverse entre los dos mundos, aunque de manera voluntaria. Tiene a sus secuases, los Izses, unas criaturas sin ojos que son capaces de camuflarse en el mundo real utilizando ropa casual, usándolos como mensajeros o realizar trabajos sucios. Mr Gone trata de acabar con Maxx, ya que éste no permite que se acerque a Julie, pues piensa que tiene planeado hacerle daño... puesto que sólo Mr Gone conoce el pasado de Julie , el extraño lazo que la une a Maxx y lo que hay debajo de la máscara... y saber esto, sería el fin de todo.

Otro de los personajes recurrentes es Sarah, una adolescente que usa gafas con problemas propios de su edad, quién suele acudir a sesiones con Julie, por órdenes de su madre, debido a que en cierto modo, no ha podido superar la terrible muerte de su padre. Su actitud pesimista y fatalista, a modo de protección, la ha llevado a concebir la idea de convertirse en una escritora y como tal, los eventos traumáticos que vive, son parte de su proceso como escritora. Ella acaba envolviéndose en las situaciones extrañas del enmascarado morado y a enfrascarse luego, en su propio mundo subconsiente.

Sin lugar a dudas, es una historia de superheroes diferente. Me encanta lo bizarro mezclado con temas psicológicos y en The Maxx, esa dosis se sirve perfectamente. No sólo veremos escenas de acción, sino que se irá desarrollando poco a poco el misterio que envuelve a los protagonistas y de la manera menos inesperada. Tuve la oportunidad de ver la serie animada luego de haberme leído el cómic y debo confesar que es de mis favoritas. Me sentí un tanto identificada en varias ocasiones, pues no sabía que en realidad todos creamos ese "mundo fantástico" o el "otro mundo", para escapar de nuestros problemas, ya sea a la hora de leer un libro o de hacer algo que nos gusta... en ese momento, somos la versión de nosotros que sólo nosotros conocemos... me gustó mucho pensar en eso y sobretodo, la manera en la que el autor construyó éste peculiar personaje a través de un evento traumático, una vez que los conoces, te vas encariñando con los personajes, comprendiendo el modo en que actua sus mentes. Por supuesto, no podía olvidar mencionar la banda sonora de la serie, realmente la amé y siento que va acorde con la animación. Sin más que agregar, les recomiendo ardamuente no sólo que se vean la animación de The Maxx, sino que se lean el cómic, ya que la versión animada a pesar de que es buena, tiene muchos cortes argumentales y les aseguro que disfrutaran de ésta joya el doble, si le dan la oportunidad a su versión en papel. Espero encarecidamente enontrarme con más tramas como estas y que a las mismas, se les ofrezca la atención que se merecen.
