Hello friends, how are you? I feel like I haven't written for weeks, maybe it's because I'm low on dopamine and I don't feel like it, but you know, you have to work even if it's for the love of art. I remember having done in the past in this community a post about Madoka Magica, mentioning that there were three movies, although I forgot to mention that a fourth one is on the way so I decided to watch this saga of movies that technically summarize the work and with the third one they tell something totally new that continues everything that we already saw, causing my total interest because the end of the original series was an open ending that left me a bad taste in my mouth. What is curious to me is that the film we are going to talk about next is 10 years old, which also ends with an open ending, imagine being a fan who saw this in 2013, having to wait 10 years to see the sequel must have been a suffering and well, you don't have to go that far, it is reflected in the comments of the trailer of the fourth film. So without further ado, let's talk a bit more about Madoka Magica and Homura's descent into madness.

Buenas, amigos. ¿Cómo están? Siento como si hubiera pasado semanas sin escribir, quizás sea porque me encuentro bajo de dopamina y muchas ganas no tengo pero ya saben, hay que trabajar aún si es por amor al arte. Recuerdo haber hecho en el pasado en esta comunidad un post sobre Madoka Magica, mencionando que habían tres películas, aunque se me olvidó mencionar que viene una cuarta en camino por lo que decidí verme esta saga de películas que técnicamente resumen la obra y con la tercera se cuenta algo totalmente nuevo que continúa todo lo que ya vimos, causando mi total interés debido a que el final de la serie original fue un final abierto que me dejó mal sabor de boca. Lo que me es curioso es que la película de la cual vamos a hablar a continuación tiene 10 años de haberse estrenado, la cual también termina con un final abierto, imagínate haber sido un fan que vió esto en el 2013, tener que esperar 10 años para ver la continuación debió ser un sufrimiento y bueno, no hay que irse tan lejos, se ve reflejado en los comentarios del tráiler de la cuarta película. Así que sin más dilación, hablemos un poco más acerca de Madoka Magica y el descenso a la locura de Homura.

Before I give the short synopsis I want to say that it obviously has a lot of spoilers, we are talking about a film that is a continuation of another film, although I will try to do as few as possible. The film puts us in an idyllic world where all the magical girls are alive and working together, this time facing nightmares instead of witches. This will seem strange even to the viewer because of the ending we were given earlier in the second film, nothing seems to add up and it's all very strange. Our suspicion will be realised when Homura, an important character in the film, realises all this and who is capable of doing it, obviously a witch, although this should be impossible because they have all been eradicated from the earth thanks to Madoka, who became the protector of the magical girls in the last film, preventing them from becoming witches and taking some of these saved girls as allies. Homura must convince the other magical girls that where they are, nothing is real and she must also find out who is the cause of all this. It sounds simple enough but what we encounter will give you vibes and feelings of not knowing what you're looking at.

Antes de dar la pequeña sinopsis quiero decir que evidentemente tiene muchos spoilers, estamos hablando de una película que es una continuación de otra película, aunque intentaré hacer los menos posibles. La película nos pone en un mundo idílico donde todas las chicas mágicas están vivas y trabajan juntas, enfrentándose esta vez a las pesadillas en vez de a las brujas. Esto hasta le parecerá raro hasta al espectador debido al final que nos habían dando antes en la segunda película, nada parece cuadrar y es muy extraño todo. Nuestra sospecha se hará realidad cuando Homura, un personaje importante dentro de la película se es cuenta de todo esto y quién es capaz de hacerlo, obviamente una bruja, aunque esto debería de ser imposible porque todas han sido erradicadas de la tierra gracias a Madoka, quien se volvió en la película pasada en la protectora de las chicas mágicas, evitando que se conviertan en brujas y tomando a algunas de estas chicas salvadas como aliadas. Homura deberá de convencer a las otras chicas mágicas que donde están nada es real y además deberá de averiguar quién es el causante de todo esto. Suena algo simple pero lo que nos encontremos te dará vibras y sentimientos de no saber qué estás viendo.

In itself if we analyse everything that happens in the film it is all very sad, it is the perfect world that anyone who knows the story would have wished for, all of them being happy without going through the traumas caused by being a magical girl. We also see Homura being happy to be able to share with Madoka, to live a life by her side again, to be her friend and enjoy moments with her once more, which is impossible in a real world. Everything is corrupted when the dose of reality arrives, we see how disturbed is the person capable of generating that world and even more when we discover who the witch in question is, the descent into madness is intense, there is a display of things that are difficult to interpret but that if we look a little we can give them the appropriate meaning. And I think the purpose at the end of it all is to finally understand Homura's feelings and that she would do anything to be with Madoka or that she can live a normal life, being able to even take away her goddess powers or so it's more or less implied, all under the premise of a sick love. You can tell that during this point in the story, so much resetting of time has already definitely damaged Homura, making her lose her sanity. What will be interesting will be to see who he faces in the fourth film, who will dare to stand up to him, because you can just tell that the new universe he created looks corrupt.

En sí si analizamos todo lo que ocurre en la película es todo muy triste, es el mundo perfecto que cualquiera que conozca la historia hubiera deseado, todas ellas siendo felices sin pasar por los traumas causados por ser una chica mágica. Vemos también a Homura ser feliz por poder compartir con Madoka, vivir una vida a su lado otra vez, poder ser su amiga y disfrutar momentos con ella una vez más, cosa que es imposible en un mundo real. Todo se corrompe cuando llega la dosis de realidad, vemos que tan transtordada está la persona capaz de generar ese mundo y más cuando se descubre quién es la bruja en cuestión, el descenso a la locura es intenso, habiendo un despliegue de cosas con difícil interpretación pero que si nos fijamos un poco podemos darle el sentido apropiado. Y creo que el propósito al final de todo es entender por fin los sentimientos de Homura y de que ella haría lo que fuera para estar con Madoka o de que ella pueda vivir una vida normal, siendo capaz hasta de quitarle sus poderes de diosa o eso es lo que más o menos se da a entender, todo bajo la premisa de un enfermizo amor. Se nota que durante este punto de la historia, tanto reiniciar el tiempo ya ha dañado definitivamente a Homura, haciéndole perder la cordura. Lo interesante será ver a quién se enfrenta en la cuarta película, quién se le atreverá a hacerle frente porque simplemente se nota que el nuevo universo que creó se ve corrupto.

The animation for a film from 2013 is beastly, Shaft studio gave their all making this film, plus you can tell it wasn't something simple due to the experimental nature of the film, with all those weird effects and drawing styles used to create the witches' scenarios. And as for the battles, they are a delight for anyone, just watch the fight between Homura and Mami, a perfect display and choreography that culminates with a good explosion. The best thing though is the plot which has a bit of Evangelion here and there if I may say so, very confusing in some parts but it's all simple in the end, but you might get lost along the way with some explanations. Would I consider it a good sequel? I would see it more as an experimental product, making most of the time in the film we are in a witch's maze, all in order to show off the qualities of the animation. The story is left unfinished and the viewer is left with more questions than answers and considering it took 10 years for a sequel to be released, it was perhaps more torture for fans to watch than enjoyable. It's a good product in its own way but it's not for everyone.

La animación para ser una película del 2013 está bestial, el estudio Shaft lo dió todo haciendo esta película, además de que se nota que no fue algo sencillo debido a lo experimental de la película, con todos esos efectos raros y estilos de dibujos usados para crear los escenarios de las brujas. Y en cuanto a las batallas son un deleite para cualquiera, solo hace falta ver la pelea entre Homura y Mami, un despliegue y coreografía perfecta que culmina con una buena explosión. Aunque lo mejor sin dudas es la trama que tiene un poco de Evangelion por aquí y por allá si me permites decirlo, muy confusas algunas partes pero es sencillo todo al final, pero puede que te pierdas en el camino con algunas explicaciones. ¿La consideraría como una buena secuela? Lo vería más bien como un producto experimental, haciendo que la mayoría del tiempo en la película estemos durante el laberinto de una bruja, todo con el fin de hacer lucir las cualidades de la animación. La historia queda inconclusa y el espectador queda con más dudas que con respuestas y tomando en cuenta que duraron 10 años en sacar una secuela, quizás fue una tortura para los fanáticos ver esto que disfrutable. Es un buen producto a su manera pero no es para nada para todo el mundo.
