The Demon Slayer movie is the highest-grossing film of all time in Japan! It was a massive success.

The animation is incredible, and the story is heartwarming. It's not a children's cartoon! It goes into great detail to describe why some characters are acting in specific ways emotionally.

Demo Slayer Mugen Train is the first mainstream Shonen of Studio Ufotable. The animators took special care to make this movie realistic-looking. It feels like that the whole film is was shot on a real camera. It was possible due to the hand-drawn CG, mashing 2D characters & 3D backgrounds, and complicated shading techniques.

I'm not going to spoil anything in case you haven't seen it yet. I'll just say that the second half of the film has many tear-jerking moments which are

...very powerful
...very touching...
...and very sad but happy at the same time!!!

I loved Demon Slayer as an anime. It is one of my favorite anime. The anime is fun, has a fantastic plot, great animation, and great characters. The character-building doesn't take that much time to hook you. The anime is short; that might be some people's biggest concern. The first & only season (yet) is 26 episodes, and the movie starts exactly where the show stops.

If you want to watch the film, I strongly recommend you to watch the anime first. Knowing the details will help you and give you maximum fun. Otherwise, you might (will) feel left out.

It is an anime series-based film which is cannon. Unlike other movies, this is not any filler and has a connection with the anime. Everything that happens in the film will have an impact on the show. There is no superfluous content, and it has everything you would expect from the anime.

The artwork of this film is incredible, even by Hollywood standards. The animation is still good and aesthetically pleasing to watch without any CGI overload. It is dynamic and smooth, which makes the experience more immersive. All actions scenes will keep you on the edge of your seat as they fill up all of those scenes with some excellent music that highlights the power of every move or action. (Anyone who watched the movie would love the theme music of the last battle, I guess.)

The film is action-based but with a mix of comedy and horrified past emotions. I loved that even in an intense situation, the movie can make the audience laugh. Most remarkably, the characters are cute and robust.

As for characters, I won't go into details since they are a pretty important aspect. But In Mugen Train, the main protagonist, Tanjiro, has a unique look with a katana.

To fill you in, Tanjiro has a dark past. His entire family was brutally murdered by demons. In that encounter, his sister Nezuko turned into a demon. It was a bloodbath, and Tanjiro is quite traumatized by this event. Finally, however, he joins the demon slayer force, and now he is on the train in his quest.

In this journey, Tanjiro, with his comrades Inosuke, Zenitsu, and Nezuko, join Rengoku, one of the Hashira (One of the highest ranks amongst demon slayers). Rengoku is superb!

That's all I would reveal. But one thing that I didn't like was that Nezuko wasn't involved in the film that much. She is one of the most adored female anime characters. So I was hoping to see her more in action, independently.

The film was released on October 16, 2020. The movie cost about 15.8 million USD to make. It made more than 500 million USD overall. So, without a doubt, it was a huge success.

The movie is rated 8.3/10 in IMDB. In Rotten Tomatoes it got an audience score of 99%. The 1Hour 57 Min movie is R-rated. It has violence and bloody images. Haruo Sotozaki directed the movie, and Funimation is the distributor. The movie is made in Japanese, but you will find both subs and dubs easily.

Again, I would want you to watch the 26 episodes of the anime before watching the movie. There is a reason why this film broke all the records of Japan's film industry. Everyone I know, who watched the anime loved the movie. It will give you an astounding experience.
