Fifteen days ago, I wrote a review of The Black Phone, where I mentioned I'd give you my opinion on the sequel once I saw it. Well, guess what? I saw it, and I didn't like it. Honestly, I was expecting something more psychologically terrifying, like the first film, but no. After finishing it, I think it was unnecessary. Mind you, I'm not complaining about the acting; I enjoyed seeing Ethan Hawke again as the psychopathic killer, but I insist, the first film was more than enough.
Hace 15 días les hice una reseña sobre El Teléfono Negro, en donde les mencioné que quedaba pendiente con traerles mi opinión sobre la segunda parte cuando la viera. ¿Pues qué creen? La vi y no me gustó. Sinceramente esperaba algo más terrorífico a nivel psicológico como sucedió en la primera parte pero no, luego de terminarla de ver pienso que estuvo demás y hacerla fue innecesaria. Ojo, no me quejo de las actuaciones, me agradó ver de nuevo a Ethan Hawke en su papel de asesino psicópata pero insisto, con la primera parte era más que suficiente.
In this second installment, we see a traumatized and older Fynn. I don't blame him; anyone in his position would be in such a bad state after what he went through, and he didn't even seek therapy (or at least that's what I understood). Everything seemed fine from the start, but from the moment I began watching, I had my doubts about the plot, because if I remember correctly, this killer died in the first film. There were several moments in the movie where I hesitated to continue watching, and I finally gave up because I was getting quite bored.
Para esta segunda parte vemos a un Fynn traumado y ya mayor. No lo culpo, cualquiera en su posición estaría así de mal luego de lo que vivió y ni siquiera buscó ayuda terapéutica (o al menos eso fue lo que entendí). Y todo iba bien desde un inicio y desde que la empecé a ver tenía mis dudas sobre cuál sería la trama en sí, porque si mal no recuerdo, este asesino murió en la primera película. Y pues hubo varios momentos en el film que dudé en seguirla viendo y finalmente terminarla de mirar porque me estaba aburriendo bastante.
Black Phone (Part 2) focuses on supernatural horror, a typical story of a tormented soul intent on causing more harm, only this time in a more remote location, where it all seems to have begun. Personally, I expected the plot to follow the same vein as the first film, and I don't know why, but to be honest, between the paranormal events and its similarities to the first film in depicting missing children, it felt like more of the same, with an exaggerated Hollywood touch to make everything more alarming.
Teléfono Negro (Parte 2) se centra en un terror cargado de lo sobrenatural, una típica historia de un alma en pena con ganas de seguir haciendo daño, sólo que en otro lugar, uno más remoto y donde al parecer inició todo. Yo por mi parte esperaba que la trama siguiera la misma onda de la primera y no sé por qué pero para serles honestos, entre los sucesos paranormales y guardar cierta similitud con la primera parte en cuanto a mostrar a los niños desaparecidos, me resultó más de lo mismo con un toque exagerado de esos típicos Hollywoodenses para hacer todo más alarmante.
The first one felt more realistic and true to life, while this one, besides showing the evolution of Fynn's sister with her otherworldly powers, didn't scare me in the slightest in any scene, nor did it keep me on the edge of my seat. In other words, watching it, for me, was just another film that I wouldn't describe as anything more than entertaining or something to watch if you have absolutely nothing else to do. That's why it bored me so much.
La primera resultaba ser más realista y ajustada a la realidad, esta en cambio, además de mostar la evolución de la hermana de Fynn con sus poderes del más allá, no me asustó en lo más mínimo en ninguna escena, tampoco me hizo sentarme al filo de la silla, es decir, verla, para mí, sólo resultó un film más que no lo calificaría como otra cosa que entretenido o para pasar el rato si no tienes absolutamente nada más que ver. Por eso me aburrió tanto.
Yes, there were some aspects I liked, including the acting, as I mentioned at the beginning, and also the old-fashioned camera effects used to suggest that they were Fynn's sister's visions. This detail reminded me a lot of the style of horror they used in Sinister, where you see children doing things they shouldn't. And, by the way, that film, which had a somewhat interesting plot, scared me more than this new Black Phone movie. I don't recommend it because I found it so boring that it's one of those movies you only watch once in a lifetime.
Si, hubo algunos aspectos que me agradaron, entre ellas las actuaciones como ya les mencioné en un inicio y también los efectos de cámara vieja para dar a entender de que eran las visiones de la hermana de Fynn. Este detalle me recordó mucho al estilo de terror que transmitieron en Siniestro, donde se veía a los niños haciendo cosas que no debían hacer. Y que por cierto, más miedo me causó aquel film que tuvo una trama medio interesante que esta nueva entrega del teléfono negro. Yo no la recomiendo porque me resultó tan aburrida que es una de esas películas que sólo ves una vez en la vida.

La vi y me ocurrió lo mismo. Por momentos se me cerraban los ojos, bostezaba o simplemente me paraba a buscar que comer sin la necesitad de colocarle una pausa a la película. Todo lo contrario ¨Ojala termine¨ja ja ja... Lo peor es que son casi dos horas.
También entiendo que Fynn esté pasando por esa etapa pues no es para menos despues de todo lo que vivió. La hermana bueno, con ese romance que ni saben como empezarlo y tampoco logré ver el concierto de Dura Duran que de seguro hubiera sido la mejor parte ja ja ja
Indudablemente la primera parte estuvo de lujo. Esta es mas de lo mismo, con cuestiones paranormales, que resultaron ser bastante predecibles en lo que te dabas cuenta de que era el espíritu del asesino en serie...no tuvo ese giro sorpresa que te deja pensando lo increíble que fue. Saludos!
