🎬 📹 Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery 🎬 📹
The other day, I watched the third instalment of the acclaimed mystery saga starring Daniel Craig as the ingenious private detective Benoît Blanc. I've only seen the first and third films in this series; the second one is on my list, but I haven't prioritised it. The truth is, I didn't know there was a second film, and I watched this one because it was recently added to Netflix, and with the cast, I couldn't resist watching it, even though it's almost two and a half hours long. And to be honest, I didn't feel like the film dragged despite its length; quite the opposite, in fact. I was thoroughly entertained by the plot and the brilliant performances of each of these Hollywood legends.
El otro día vi la tercera entrega de la aclamada saga de misterio protagonizada por Daniel Craig al interpretar al ingenioso detective privado Benoît Blanc. De esta saga me he visto sólo la primera y la tercera película; la segunda parte la tengo en mi lista, pero no le he dado prioridad. La verdad es que no sabía que había una segunda película y vi esta porque está recién agregada en Netflix y con el elenco elegido, no pude evitar querer verla a pesar de que dura casi 2 horas y media. Y para serles franco, no sentí que el film se hiciera largo a pesar de su duración, más bien todo lo contrario, me la pasé bastante entretenido con la trama y con las actuaciones brillantes de cada una de estas leyendas de Hollywood.
One of the aspects I enjoyed most was seeing Jeremy Renner's incredible recovery, as if nothing had ever happened to him. I also thoroughly enjoyed Daniel Craig's iconic portrayal of this truly excellent detective. He's one of those characters who's already been there and back when you're just starting. I loved watching him unravel all the mysteries at the end of the film; moreover, his chemistry with other actors, like the priest played by Josh O'Connor and the legendary Glenn Close, was spectacular and added an extra touch to the film throughout the story.
Uno de los aspectos que más me agradó fue ver el regreso de Jeremy Renner con una recuperación increíble, como si no le hubiera pasado nada. También disfruté bastante de la actuación que brindó Daniel Craig con su icónica interpretación de este detective que realmente es muy bueno. Es de esas personas que ya fue y vino cuando uno apenas está yendo en el camino. Me agradó ver cómo fue desenmarañando todas las dudas al final de la película; además, la química que tuvo con otros actores, como el sacerdote interpretado por Josh O'Connor y la legendaria Glenn Close, fue espectacular y le agregó un toque extra a la película durante toda la trama.
Another aspect I really appreciated, and which is consistent throughout this detective character's films, is that even though the supporting characters' appearances are brief, their performances are memorable and form an important part of the story. You don't see these characters as just that (supporting characters), but rather as part of the main cast. Everyone is important, and in the end, each contribution fits together like a key piece of a puzzle.
Otro aspecto que me agradó mucho y que se mantiene en las películas de este personaje detectivesco es que, aunque sean cortas las apariciones de los personajes secundarios, sus actuaciones brindadas llegan a ser memorables y forman una parte importante de la historia. Por lo que no terminas de ver a estos personajes como lo que realmente son (personajes secundarios), sino que los ves como parte de los personajes principales. Aquí todos son importantes y al final cada participación encaja como una pieza principal de un rompecabezas.
On the other hand, the gothic and serious atmosphere the story adopts at certain moments, only to be surprised by a funny and unexpected scene, made the film truly special and enjoyable. I laughed out loud in several scenes, especially towards the end, which made my day and put me in a great mood. Few films manage to do this for me; even the first one didn't elicit this reaction, so the third installment stands out compared to the beginning of this saga and undoubtedly makes me want to see the second film to complete this detective's investigative journey.
Por otro lado, el ambiente gótico y serio que se le da a la historia en ciertos momentos para ser tomados por sorpresa con una escena graciosa y fuera de lugar hizo que la película fuera realmente especial y disfrutable. Me reí en unas cuantas escenas, sobre todo al final, pero con risas a carcajadas, lo que me hizo el día y me puso de muy buen humor. Pocas películas logran esto conmigo; incluso la primera no me causó esto, por lo que la tercera parte destaca en comparación con el inicio de esta saga y sin lugar a dudas me hace querer ver la segunda parte para completar el recorrido investigativo de este detective.
The character I liked most, besides Craig's, was the priest, played by O'Connor. He was the quintessential spiritual person who arrived at that place at the worst possible time. It was like watching someone suffer through a situation where everything that shouldn't happen, happened to this man. The best part of the film was its ending, and although the beginning is a bit strange, it's worth waiting to see how the events unfold until the conclusion, where you really don't know who could have done it or how. Only an expert in the field, like Detective Benoît Blanc, can solve this impossible case. So I recommend it if you want to see something different.
El personaje que más me agradó de todos, además del de Craig, fue el del sacerdote, interpretado por O'Connor. Fue la típica persona espiritual que llegó a ese lugar en el momento menos indicado. Fue como ver a alguien padecer una situación en la que todo lo que no debía pasar le pasó a este hombre. Lo mejor del film fue su final ,y aunque el inicio es algo extraño, vale la pena esperar a ver cómo se van dando los acontecimientos hasta su desenlace en el que no sabes realmente quién pudo haber sido ni cómo lo hizo. Sólo un experto en la materia como el detective Benoît Blanc puede resolver este caso imposible. Así que se las recomiendo si quieren ver algo diferente.

I really appreciate this detailed review. The truth is, I haven't seen Wake Up Dead Man or the sequel, but after reading your impressions, I feel like I'm missing out on something really good.
