When I read about CineTv's writing contest about movie villains, I had to think long and hard which movie villain to choose from. The usual suspects like Loki, Freddie Krueger, Darth Vader, Agent Smith, The Joker, etcetera came to mind.

But I had to dig deeper into my memory, because some of these villains I actually liked because of either their backstories, the way they were written or because of the actor portraying the character. That's when I remembered a character so villainous, that whenever I would see the actress in another role, I would still be disgusted watching her, even if she was the complete opposite in another movie.

If you don't know from the pictures by now, it's Corinne Dollanganger from the movie Flowers in the Attic (FLA), that's been adapted from Virginia Andrews' novel of the same name. The obvious villain in FLA would've been Corinne's mother Olivia Foxworth, because of her onset cold attitude and mean demeanor toward Corinne's children - known as the Dollanganger dolls - while Corinne was known as a loving and caring mother to her kids.

But as the story progresses and the children are experiencing more and more abuse and neglect by the hand of their grandmother Olivia and their mother's visits becoming less and less, that's when trust in their mother Corinne begins to fade and realizing that her promises and plans were empty stories to keep the kids from rioting.

And because of Corinne's deceit, lies and the part she played in the death of her two youngest children made her truly despicable. Where was her motherly, warm and loving instinct? A mother should protect her child at all costs and while she pretended to be that person to her kids, along the way her selfish and vain nature began to seep in.

The 180-turn of Corinne is what makes her the most villainous character juxtaposed to Olivia, who showed who she was from the very start. While Corinne wanted to be seen as a loving mother, her actions proved otherwise. But what do you think? Let me know in the comments below πŸ€“.

The most despicable villain was Jenny from Forrest Gump.
Haven't seen this one yet though.

!LOL I should've expected this one πŸ€¦β€β™€πŸ˜‚.

Then we should watch it together. I've also read almost all of the novels from this series, but one or two are still pending.

Put it on the list. (Can you actually make a real list and take responsibility of making sure we go down it?)
