From Scratch 🎥 Not Another Type Of Feel Good Hallmark Kind Of Series

Ever seen a trailer you weren't impressed by and therefore didn't even think of watching that movie or tv-show? That's what I had with From Scratch. When I had seen the trailer I thought to myself "another Hallmark type of love story, what's new?" and didn't want to add another one to my list of "have seen".

And then I had an unplanned visitor today and wondered how to entertain that person and thought "I've seen enough people on social media mentioning From Scratch, so let's see what all the fuss is about". The beginning of this tv-series is like I had expected: unoriginal meet cute (in all fairness is there still room for originality regarding meet cutes?) and a stale course of the protagonists - Amy and Lino's - love story in the first episode.

But it was interesting enough to push through and go on with the next episodes and that's when I couldn't stop myself from watching this series. The way the storytellers weaved difficult parent-children-relationships into the story and the different dynamics that come with families was painful, refreshing and relatable. Particularly the way families deal with disappointments, illnesses and joyous news in different ways. Also seeing the difference in expressing themselves and how they show affection towards loved ones.

This series is both heartwarming and heartbreaking. There were times I could laugh with the characters and found humor in relatable family drama, but there were also times I couldn't help but cry out and feel the pain so strongly. It's also beautiful to see that in spite of disappointments and disagreements in family members, people could set aside their pride and mend fences. Family, love, warmth, time and creating memories is all that matters.

How about you? Seen "From Scratch" already and if so, what are your thoughts? I was definitely surprised and hooked till the very end.

Well, I'm not a lover of love movies, romance or anything like that, but I haven't seen it either, but I think I've seen this girl in other movies, I just don't know in which one.

Did you get a chance to see this series?

The actress is Zoe Saldaña, who's played in the Avatar, Guardians of The Galaxy and Star Trek movies. Among other movies also.
