BLUE GIANT --- was so amazing, I watched it twice today! :)

I watched the same animated movie twice today, and I'm not even kidding. haha

My usual Saturday students changed their schedules to tomorrow, so I'm free today. I initially thought of opening some classes, but decided to just relax and spend time with my family today. So, we had karaoke at home this morning while preparing lunch.

In the afternoon, I decided to watch an animated film... I scrolled through my to-watch list and chose Blue Giant. It was amazing, and I felt that my mom would love it as well, so I watched it the second time tonight with my mom.

Let's talk about it!

NOTE: All photos are screenshots I took while watching the movie.

When Dai Miyamoto (the main character) was in his last year of junior high school, he discovered and was captivated by the world of jazz music.

Since then, he has been determined to become the best jazz player in the world. He practiced playing the saxophone every day for three years.

🎷
Immediately after graduating from high school, he decided to leave Sendai (his hometown) and move to Tokyo to realize his dream.

He stayed with his friend, Tamada, temporarily at first... but they ended up living together for quite a long time.

🎷

As if by fate, he met Yukinori Sawabe, a pianist, who played at a small music club introduced to him by an acquaintance. He convinced Yukinori to form a jazz band with him.

Playing with just the two of them wasn't working that well. They needed another person, and that ended up being Tamada, Dai's friend and landlord.

Although a total beginner, he was determined to learn the drums and play alongside Dai and Yukinori.

In the movie, you'd witness how these three evolved as musicians and put in the effort to achieve their dreams.

Watch and be inspired by their passion, and enjoy the ride through their soulful music. :)

Although the story focused more on Dai, I
can't help but be in awe of the other characters... especially Tamada. And giving each of them their time to shine in the movie made me really glad.

The story is inspiring. It shows the struggles of many aspiring artists. I like the flow of the story and the occasional insertion of interview clips throughout. These clips give you a deeper insight into the story, especially about Dai.

The art style may be on the simple side, but the animation is making it look so much better, especially the effects when they're already performing.

I love listening to most genres of music... and even though I'm not that familiar with jazz, I love the sound of the saxophone. My father loves listening to Kenny G, and so do I.

The performances in the animated film were heart-stopping. It makes me forget how to breathe... It's the same feeling when I'm watching my favorite sports anime. hahaha And I love it!

Now, I'm eager to read the manga version. I may not be able to listen to the music, but I want to dig deeper into the story. Then, I'd continue with Blue Giant Supreme to know what's next.

Who knows? There might be another movie adaptation for the next story, right? We'll see.

Anyway, the movie was worth watching. As I mentioned, I watched it twice today... and I'm willing to rewatch it more in the future. (That says a lot! XD)

I'll end this post here... I still have to wake up earlier than usual for work tomorrow. Thanks for reading, and see you around!

I really impressed by your Blue Giant fanboyish nature. This is quite a telling story to watch it twice in one day. Your enthusiasm and your word-painting is making me want to see it as well, to get the music and character development first hand.

Hahahah... My emotions usually affect my writing. I hope you enjoy it! ^^

Movies where people fight for their dreams are always impressive. Those emotions mix together, and when there's music involved, everything is even better.

It could be the perfect movie for me this weekend. :P
