Mashle: Magic, Muscles and Lots of Cream Puffs <3

What's up otaku(s)?!!!

It took me some time to make some anime-related posts again. I do watch anime and read manga every day, so there's a lot of things to talk about.

I re-watched "Boku no Hero Academia" from the first season until the last available one as well as all the movies on Netflix with my mama. I'm kind of happy because she decided to watch it with me even though it's quite bloody. She dislikes blood, but she ended up enjoying it.

Now, we're watching "Black Clover". I've already watched perhaps more than a hundred episodes in the past, but I forgot where I stopped watching, so I decided to watch it from the beginning. It's bloody, but tolerable for my mama, so we're currently watching it together.

She seems to be enjoying some shonen anime, but I don't think she could watch "Kimetsu no Yaiba" or "Shingeki no Kyojin". It would be too much for her. Who knows? She might be able to do so in the future?

Anyway, the main topic for this post isn't about me turning my mama into an otaku, but I want to talk about a certain anime called MASHLE.

A lot of anime fans likened this anime to One Punch Man and Mob Psycho 100. I could see that since the main character's hairstyle is similar to Mob's while his ability is pretty similar to Saitama. The art style is also very similar.

Because of this, I tried checking the author, but Mashle is actually the debut manga of the author named Hajime Komoto. Funnily though, the author's profile picture is mushroom-head boy who looks almost identical to Mob-kun of Mob Psycho 100.

Personally, I think Mashle is a lot more like Harry Potter and Black Clover combined. Let me show you the trailer below.

The story is about a magic-less boy who for some reasons entered a magic school. It's kind of similar to Hogwarts where the students also belong to various houses.

It's an action, fantasy and comedy anime. If you're into Harry Potter, you'd see a bunch of Harry Potter references used in the anime like the sorting hat, quidditch, etc.

The reason why I likened it to Black Clover is because of the main character. Both anime has magic-less main characters who are trying to survive in a magical world with their muscles or physical strength.

Mash (Mashle's main character) trains his body every day and is obsessed with muscles and cream puffs. I could say the same with Asta (Black Clover's main character)... well, except for the cream puff part.

Aside from the main characters, the systems used in these magical worlds are similar. In Mashle, students must gain coins through their achievements in school in order to be a "Divine Visionary" while in Black Clover, the magic knights would have to collect stars and show extreme achievements to be promoted. Asta is dreaming of becoming the Magic Emperor someday despite having no magical powers.

In addition, both anime reflect the differences among the citizen's rank. The more magic you have, the higher your status is. They show discrimination towards people who are poor and with less magic. And this situation is what both the main characters want to change.

Mashle only has one season so far, but they'll be back next year, 2024, for the next season. The story was so-so for me because I'm a fan of Black Clover and I can't help but compare them, but Mashle is still worth-watching.

It's humorous and if you're a Pottermore, you'd enjoy spotting the references as well. The animation style especially the fight scenes are also amazing for a parody or comedy anime. Perhaps, the story would evolve more in the coming seasons as I have quite a bit of questions towards the end of the previous one.

I'm still thinking whether to read the manga on Shonen JUMP or not, but we'll see. Just give it a shot. It's short, but decently entertaining! <3

This series is really like a combination of Mom Psycho, OPM, Harry Potter and BC, lol. But overall it is enjoyable and I love every episode of it. I actually want more but sadly it ended with 12 episodes only, when is the next season kaya 😖

January of next year... I believe it's confirmed na. :)

Oo nga ehh... bitin. It was becoming more and more exciting towards the end tapos biglang "See you next season!!" hahah

At least, maraming chapters na sa manga and I guess it's quite popular among the readers, so it's highly likely to get not only a second season, but more in the years to come. :)

Omg! So I don't need to wait years for the next season OMG! Yoshii, me is happy ehehehehe └|∵|┐♪.

If ever matagal na ulit ang next season after that one in January, makakapag hintay pa naman ako. Sana lang talaga magkaroon pa ng kasunod aguyy. Pero excited na ako sa season this January, sana kasi 24 episode ang nilalabas lada season ee ( ꈍᴗꈍ)

avatar

Yep... No need to wait very long... 😁😁😁

Bihira na talaga 24 eps these days... Usually 12-13 eps nlang per season. But we're used to being patient naman.. choz!!! 😅😂

Ikr, di nila alam ang pakiramdam ng nabibitin! ( ꈍᴗꈍ) Haha

avatar

Hahaha... True!
Pero ok narin mabitin kesa nman umasa sa wala.. 😭😅

I had fun watching this anime at Loklok. I always compared Mashle to Saitama in one punch man. I am waiting for episode 13 to come out.☺️☺️☺️

avatar

He is indeed also pretty similar to Saitama. Have you watched Black Clover yet?? You'll find more similarities there. :) The next episode won't be released until January of next year, so we can only patiently wait. haha

I am not yet familiar with the Black Clover, thanks for the clue. I do watch it this time.

avatar

It's quite long, but no dull moments... I'm currently rewatching it, too... Enjoy!!!

I love this anime so much I repeatedly watch every episode 😂
There's always something fun in every episode of this series.
It can really be quite similar to Black Clover but it's fun in its own way.

I totally agree.
I'm not a huge fan of parody anime, but this one is really entertaining.
I guess it's also because I'm a Harry Potter fan, so it's even more amusing to watch. :)

The concept is quite similar, but the purpose of Mashle is mostly for viewers to laugh... it's a light-hearted version of Black Clover. :D
