STRAW: A Heart-Wrenching Tale of Mother's Love and Unjust Struggles
Sometimes I get tired of the way we, the citizens, are being treated in a country that has a government, and then the government doesn't recognize anyone at all. There was a case of Iran having attacks of all sorts, and people are being killed. Innocent people just kept on dieing over crimes that they had not committed, and the government forgot that these citizens are the ones who voted them into power, and for them to get to that point, they are. When I saw this movie yesterday from a friend, I was a bit skeptical if it was going to be worth the time to watch, but then I got encouraged to watch the movie.
STRAW is not just an ordinary movie but a movie filled with lots of intensity, heartbreak, crime, and drama that was written, produced, and directed by Tyler Perry. This movie is about Janiyah Wiltkinson, who is a single mother and got caught in a messed-up situation that went from bad to worse as she tried to struggle for her ill daughter Aria, who suddenly couldn't bathe herself, and she did what a true mother would have done to her child.
Seriously, I was getting emotional while I was watching this movie because of the full energy this movie has. Truly life can be unfair with us sometimes, but at times when you are poor, then you can understand the level of things you have to face, and truly you need to work so hard, which is what Janiyah showed throughout in this movie: that you can never quantify a mother's love for anything. This movie was released June 6, 2025, but trust me, you can just miss out on this.
The cinematography of the movie was on the high side because the graphics were top-notch, the effects were great, and the soundtrack was too good. The level at which this movie got me so interested, I was very connected, and I had to drop everything I was doing and concentrate on the movie because of how entertaining it was. The graphics were good and okay for the fact that I was not really able to pick out something bad about the movie, but trust me, there must surely be. This movie was done by some commendable actors like Taraji P. Henson as Janiyah Wiltkinson, Sherri Shepherd as Nicole, and Teyana Taylor as Det. Kay Raymond, Sinbad as Benny, Glynn Turman as Richard, Rockmond Dunbar as Chief Wilson and so on.
What works in the movie
- It was entertaining.
- It was a very good plot
- The movie felt so real.
What doesn't work?
- One of the actors pissed me off by acting so wicked to Janiyah in the bank.
- The FBI acted so harshly over the situation.
Rating: My rating for the movie is 4.5/5.
In all, this is a very lovely watch. It was a movie that passed a message to the entire audience, and there is no way you will watch this movie and you will not feel emotional, even if it is just at the slightest time. The happy part of the movie was that the FBI was unable to kill Janiyah Wiltkinson because it would have been a bad one for her and the detective. A mother had to do everything to ensure that her child live and this is what anyone could do if you were in her position. It a movie you would love to see and I hope you watch and enjoy.

It sounds emotional, intense and full of heart -especially with the way it highlights a mother's love and struggle. I can already tell it's going to be a powerful watch
Sure, you really need to try it out my friend.
