There was once a time not so long ago when things were way simpler. Back then, everyone agreed that there were just two genders and one cannot become the other. It was a time when if you were asked to provide your gender in a form, there would be just two options - Male or Female. Now the times have changed drastically. In a bid to be progressive, a part of the world is sinking into a state of confusion. Nowadays, there are crimes like "misgendering" which can ruin a person's life if they are found culpable. It is in these confusing times that the question "What is a Woman?" can be considered as thought-provoking.
I wish I could say that I approached this documentary with an open mind but I'd be lying. Of course, there is nothing to be openminded about when it comes to immutable truths of nature. Still, to be fair, this film takes a neutral stance on the issue for the most part. Instead of making assertions right from the get-go, Matt interviews multiple people on both sides of the issue and asks some properly structured questions that drive the conversation. This approach helps the viewer make logical conclusions on what to believe if there was ever any confusion. I really like this approach because each side was given a chance to layout their argument.
Some of the questions raised in this documentary were on the relationship between basic biology and gender identity. The questions challenged the mainstream narrative on how biological sex is not linked to a person's gender. Other questions challenged the notion that the gender phenomenon is not a social contagion. One side claims that most adults that push this ideology on the younger generation know that their stance is indefensible while the other side says that it is merely a coincidence that many younger people these days are identifying as transgender. It starts off quite interestingly with Matt playing the role of a confused member of the society who would typically ask questions when presented with the notion of gender identity. Matt takes it up a notch with a detective board and pins trying to make sense of the entire thing. At first, it's a mystery that needs to be solved but then it turns to madness that becomes overwhelming. This is when the film takes an even darker turn and starts to have that horror feel to it. I always brag about how I can sit through many horror films but this one is just different because you know that it is something that is actually happening.
Once the horror shows itself, the conversation shifts from being less interrogative to confrontational. This is the point the ideology is rejected in all its form. After hearing both sides of the argument, the normal response would be to not just reject the ideology but to also push back against it - which is what Walsh begins to do. This is when the goal becomes to protect truth no matter what it takes. Like I said earlier, there is really nothing to be openminded about.

The tone of questioning was similar for everyone but the ones against the ideology were able to answer adequately because their argument is obviously grounded in truth.
