[ENG-ESP] Gen V - The Boys spin-off (SERIES REVIEW)

A first season of Gen V, spin-off of The Boys, has just aired expanding the universe of these characters. The series focuses on what life is like for students with supernatural abilities in college, and how their lives are dominated by the scientific and educational society. The central character, Marie Moreau, enrolls at Godolkin University, facing different challenges that put her life in danger.

Acaba de ser emitida la primera temporada de la serie Gen V, un spin-off de The Boys expandiendo con ella el universo de estos personajes. La serie se enfoca en cómo es la vida de los estudiantes con habilidades sobrenaturales en la universidad, y cómo sus vidas se ven dominadas por la sociedad científica y educativa. El personaje central, Marie Moreau, matricula en la universidad de Godolkin, enfrentando desde su ingreso diferentes desafíos que ponen su vida en peligro.

Starring Jaz Sinclair, Marie Moreau and her classmates, played by the young cast of Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Derek Lu, Chance Perdomo and Asa Germann, discover a dark secret lurking in their school's woods, finding themselves manipulated by their teachers and outside agents for eight episodes. Other actors who also have supporting roles include Marco Pigossi, Shelley Conn, Clancy Brown, Sean Patrick Thomas, Colby Minifie and Jensen Ackles.

Interpretada por Jaz Sinclair, Marie Moreau y sus compañeros de clase, interpretados por el joven elenco de Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Derek Lu, Chance Perdomo y Asa Germann, descubren un secreto tenebroso que se esconde en los bosques de su escuela, viéndose manipulados por sus profesores y agentes externos por ocho episodios. This series, is based on the original The Boys' comic book created in 2006, as well as being a direct sequel to the three seasons of the series of the same name and the prelude to what's to come in its fourth season. If you haven't seen any of this before let me give you a little anecdote:

In 2019 a friend recommends me the series The Boys, at first I was not inspired at all to watch it, one day, I took my time to witness at least 10 minutes, and it ended up captivating me just past that amount of time. The Boys debuts as a sci-fi series that references superheroes from both Marvel and DC comics and movies, but it has something different, these are not the good guys, but the bad guys.

En 2019 una amiga me recomienda la serie The Boys, al principio no me sentía inspirado para nada en verla, una día, me tomé mi tiempo para presenciar al menos 10 minutos, y me terminó cautivando justo pasado esa cantidad de tiempo. The Boys debuta como una serie de ciencia y ficción que hace referencia a los superhéroes de los cómics y películas tanto de Marvel como DC, pero tiene algo diferente, estos no son los buenos, sino los malos.

We're used to seeing these characters in colorful costumes who are the ones who come in and save the day, so the plot of The Boys begins, but it twists for the time being, showing the true nature of these characters. Imagine a version of Superman, Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Captain America, Batman and Martian Manhunter but evil. This is what The Boys is all about.

Estamos acostumbrados a ver a esos personajes con trajes coloridos que son los que llegan y salvan el día, así empieza la trama de The Boys, pero se retuerce de momento, mostrando la verdadera naturaleza de estos personajes. Imagina a una versión de Superman, Flash, Wonder Woman, Linterna Verde, Capitán América, Batman y Detective Marciano pero malvados. De esto va The Boys.

Gen V, on the other hand, shows a group of teenagers who don't know each other, coming to form a friendship from their deepest feelings after fighting beings of their own kind. This series makes unforced inclusion of ethnicities, religions and sexes in a roundabout way, but focusing on how black people are treated in the world and what they have to go through to reach success.

Gen V, en cambio, muestra a un grupo de adolescentes que se desconocen entre sí, llegando a formar una amistad desde sus sentimientos más profundos tras combatir a seres de su misma clase. Esta serie hace inclusión no forzada de etnias, religiones y sexos de manera indirecta, pero enfocándose en cómo las personas de raza negra son tratados en el mundo y por lo que tienen que pasar para llegar al éxito.

Its dramatic scenes are very well composed and developed, with graphics that have absolutely nothing to envy to those of its competing companies, plus sound effects that really convey a lot of suspense and terror, not to mention the heartbreaking scenes of action and extreme violence that has, and if you were thinking of watching it accompanied by minors, go discarding that idea, because if there was a 20+ rating, this series takes it. Sony and Amazon really went all out with it.

Sus escenas dramáticas están muy bien compuestas y desarrolladas, con unos gráficos que no tienen absolutamente nada que envidiarle a las de sus compañías compitentes, además de unos efectos sonoros que la verdad es que transmiten mucho suspenso y terror, sin contar las desgarradores escenas de acción y violencia extrema que tiene, y, si pensabas verla acompañado de menores, ve descartando esa idea, porque si hubiera una clasificación 20+, esta serie se la lleva. Realmente Sony y Amazon se fueron con todo con ella.

With the cameo of several characters in it, Gen V connects directly with The Boys sharing the same universe, where the main actors of it will repeat their respective roles in new seasons of both series. These young talents surprised an entire audience with their excellent acting and jaw-dropping respect for the script, opening up endless possibilities for more spin-offs of their own.

Con el cameo de varios personajes en ella, Gen V conecta directamente con The Boys compartiendo el mismo universo, donde los actores principales de ella repetirán sus respectivos papeles en nuevas temporadas de ambas series. Estos jóvenes sorprendieron a toda una audiencia por su excelente interpretación y respeto al guión que te dejará boquiabierto, abriendo un sinfín de posibilidades de más spin-off de ellos mismos.
