[ENG-ESP] Loki - A Goodbye Forever (SERIES REVIEW)

The second and last season of the Loki series has just finished airing on the Disney+ streaming platform, finally concluding the story of this Marvel character. After escaping the timeline using one of the infinity stones in the events of Avengers: Engame, Loki alters the timeline and is captured by the TVA, a secret entity that maintains the canonicity of events by avoiding nexus in history. Against his will, Loki is forced by this organization to help fight one of its variants, finding on his way an even worse enemy, Kang: The Conqueror.

La segunda temporada de la serie Loki acaba de terminar su emisión a través de la plataforma de streaming Disney+ concluyendo finalmente la historia de este personaje de Marvel. Tras escaparse de la línea temporal usando una de las gemas del infinito en los eventos de Avengers: Engame, Loki altera la línea del tiempo y es capturado por la TVA, una entidad secreta que mantiene la canonidad de los eventos evitando nexos en la historia. En contra de su voluntad, Loki se ve obligado por esta organización a ayudar a combatir a una de sus variantes, encontrando en su camino a un enemigo aún peor, Kang: El Conquistador.

Tom Hiddleston stars in this fantasy and sci-fi drama accompanied by Sophia Di Maritino, Owen Wilson, Ke Huy Quan, Wunmi Mosaku, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Rafael Casal, Eugene Cordero and Liz Carr. This series lands on the small screen as a before and after in the MCU giving an emotional ending to the story of the god of misschief, with a plot out of the box with respect to what Marvel is used to do.

Tom Hiddleston protagoniza este drama fantástico y de ciencia y ficción acompañado por Sophia Di Maritino, Owen Wilson, Ke Huy Quan, Wunmi Mosaku, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Rafael Casal, Eugene Cordero y Liz Carr. Esta serie aterriza a la pantalla chica como un antes y un después en el UCM dándole un final emotivo a la historia del dios del engaño, con una trama fuera de la caja con respecto a lo que Marvel acostumbra hacer.

The series connects us with a Loki who still wants to be king and live ruling on a throne, but that evolves over time and in each chapter makes us witness the process that the character must go through to literally become a god. Six chapters per season, twelve chapters in total are enough to say goodbye to this character that has captivated fans so much over time.

La serie nos conecta con un Loki que aún desea ser rey y vivir governando en un trono, pero que va evolucionando con el tiempo y en cada capítulo nos hace presenciar por el proceso que debe transitar el personaje para convertirse en todo un dios literalmente. Seis capítulos por temporada, doce capítulos en total son suficientes para despedirnos de este personaje que tanto ha cautivado a los fans a lo largo del tiempo.

I could not imagine a Loki without Tom Hiddleston, I think they are the same person, and it is amazing how this actor manages to fully understand his fictional profile and take it to another scale. We get to see before his final conversion, a leader Loki, very different from the villain we are used to see, and not only an alien, but also a companion and a friend.

No podría imaginar a un Loki sin Tom Hiddleston, creo que son la misma persona, y es increíble cómo este actor logra entender por completo a su perfil fictio y saberlo llevar a otra escala. Logramos ver antes de su conversión final, a un Loki líder, muy diferente al villano que estamos acostumbrados a ver, y no sólo a un alien, sino también a un compañero y un amigo.

Sophia Di Martino plays an important role in this series in her own version of Enchantress being a key element in the development of the series. Other characters that appear here in various cameos are Thor, Miss Minutes (Tara Strong), Loki in his 1980 comic book version (Richard E. Grant), Kid Loki (Jack Veal) and Loki-Thor (DeObia Oparei) but the actor that stands out the most is Jonathan Majors in his role as Kang.

Otros personajes que aparecen acá según varios cameos son Thor, Miss Minutes (Tara Strong), Loki en su versión del cómic de 1980 (Richard E. Grant), Kid Loki (Jack Veal) y Loki-Thor (DeObia Oparei) pero el actor que más sobresale de todos es Jonathan Majors en su papel como Kang.

Loki introduces the new villain of the multiverse saga, Kang, an intergalactic Kree warrior who has dominated other parallel earths claiming himself as emperor, where, in some of them, he has even fought and defeated the Avengers. This version of Kang is not the same as the one in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, but rather, a younger, more enthusiastic and super fun version that you will instantly feel at ease with, although his involvement is very low key.

La serie de Loki introduce al nuevo villano de la saga de Marvel, Kang, un guerrero kree intergaláctico que ha dominado otras tierras paralelas aclamándose a sí mismo como emperador, donde, en algunas de ellas, ha incluso combatido y vencido a los Vengadores. Esta versión de Kang no es la misma que la de Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, sino, una versión más joven, entusiasta y súper divertida con la que te sentirás a gusto al instante, aunque su participación es muy baja.

Though he is known for using magical powers, Loki rises through the ranks over the course of these two seasons as a warrior, analyst and engineer trying to repair the damage done to the multiverse. We see him leading a battle against evil in a way we have never seen before on screen alongside his sidekick Mobius (Owen Wilson). The graphics are very good and each space in scene represents a real scenario in order to elevate the viewer's perspective and minimize effects and CGI, which makes us go deeper and deeper into each episode.

Aunque se caracteriza por usar poderes mágicos, Loki sube de nivel a lo largo de estas dos temporadas como guerrero, analista e ingeniero intentando reparar el daño causado al multiverso. Lo vemos liderando una batalla contra el mal de una manera que jamás habíamos visto en pantalla junto a su compañero Mobius (Owen Wilson). Los gráficos son muy buenos y cada espacio en escena representa a un escenario real en aras de elevar la perspectiva del televidente y minimazar los efectos y el CGI, lo que nos hace adentrarnos cada vez mucho más dentro en cada episodio.

Another important factor here is the soundtrack, which combines a touch of The Avengers score with a darker and more mysterious tone that supports the series. Between Tara Strong and Jonathan Majors the series gets a plus in sound and ambience, presenting two of the most sinister characters of the MCU's Phase 5.

Otro factor importante acá es la banda sonora, que combina un toque de la orquesta de The Avengers con un tono más oscuro y misterioso que respalda la serie. Entre Tara Strong y Jonathan Majors la serie obtiene un plus en el sonido y ambientación, presentando a dos personajes de los más siniestros de la fase 5 del UCM.

Loki isn't a series of spells and magic, it is a series of pure science and fiction where we see the central character become a true god and fulfill his glorious purpose in the sacred timeline. Tom, says goodbye to this beloved character after a 13 year run, although we will see him in the final Avengers movie, Avengers: Secret Wars which is when the actor officially ends his contract with Marvel Studios.
