Supernatural beings and sorcery have been of interest to Marvel Studios since the beginning of phase 4 of its cinematic universe based on the comic book characters. With the resounding success of the Wandavision series, Marvel is looking to delve a little deeper into the theme of mythology and monsters in its next saga. Werewolf by Night is the first special of a division of the company that will focus on bringing magic and mysticism to the small screen, made up of stories that begin and end in a single broadcast. Werewolf by Night was released as a test in black and white format in the year 2022, alluding to the old 70's oriented cinema. In 2023, Marvel Studios decided to release again this special but this time in full colour due to the great acceptance it had and the hype it provoked previously, evidencing the possibility of arguing and deepening a shared universe of characters from different cultures and origins.

Werewolf by Night fue estrenada como prueba en formato de blanco y negro en el año 2022, haciendo alusión al viejo cine orientado a los años ‘70. En 2023, Marvel Studios decició relanzar este especial pero esta vez a color debido a la gran aceptación que tuvo y el hype que provocó anteriormente, evidenciando la posibilidad de argumentar y profundizar en un universo compartido de personajes de diferentes culturas.

Gael García Bernal stars alongside Laura Donnelly in this suspenseful, action-packed short film, which also features plenty of drama and fantasy. Harriet Sansom Harris is the main villain here, playing Verussa Bloodstone, who leads a monster hunting cult, and who seeks to celebrate her husband's death in ceremony by choosing a new leader who bear a powerful gem that reveals the true identity of the beasts. In the midst of the hunt, a series of events occur that cause the main character, Jack, to show his true nature after becoming a werewolf.

Gael García Bernal protagoniza junto a Laura Donnelly este cortometraje entre escenas de suspenso y acción, donde abunda también el drama y la fantasía. Harriet Sansom Harris es la principal villana aquí, interpretando a Verussa Bloodstone, la cual dirige una secta de cacería de monstruos, y quien busca celebrar la muerte de su esposo en ceremonia eligiendo a un nuevo líder que se encuentre listo para ser el portador de una gema poderosa que revela la verdadera identidad de las bestias. En plena cacería, ocurren una serie de eventos que hacen que el personaje principal, Jack, muestre su verdadera naturaleza tras convertirse en un hombre lobo.

From black and white to colour, the quality of the company's special effects is spectacular, so if you haven't seen it in all its splendour, I recommend you do so. It is fascinating to see how these action scenes starring fantasy characters come to life under the tutelage and direction of the Marvel Studios.

Del blanco y negro hacia el color transita una calidad espectacular propia de los efectos especiales de la compañía, por lo que si no la has visto en todo su esplendor te recomiendo hacerlo. Resulta fascinante ver cómo cobran vida estas escenas de acción protagonizada por personajes de fantasía bajo la tutela y dirección de una empresa tan grande como lo es Marvel Studios.

References are made to The Avengers, to other characters such as Dracula, the Snowman and Bigfoot, evidencing the existence of these mythological beings in the MCU. Also, there is an unforced inclusion of characters of different races, languages and sexual orientation, this, due to the evolutionary and cognitive step of the society in which we live today, and what better opportunity than now to include new characters with different thoughs.

Lo mejor de todo, es que se hacen referencia a Los Vengadores, a otros personajes como Dracula, el hombre de las nieves y Pie Grande, evidenciando con esto la existencia de estos seres mitológicos en el UCM. También, se hace una inclusión no forzada de personajes de diferentes razas, lenguas y orientación sexual, esto, debido al paso evolutivo y cognitivo de la sociedad en la que vivimos hoy en día, y qué mejor oportunidad que ahora para incluir a nuevos personajes con ideologías distintas.

Due to the technology and the costumes of the soldiers involved here, we could say that this short film takes place chronologically after the events of The Avengers (2012) but also after Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) but, because of the estimated age of the supporting character, Elsa, and depending on the plot, it may also take place after the blip, I think you'll understand once you see it, although there is no mention of it. Debido a la tecnología y la vestimenta de los soldados que participan acá, se pudiera decir que este cortometraje tiene lugar cronológicamente después de los sucesos de The Avengers (2012) pero también después de Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) pero, por la edad estimada del personaje secundario, Elsa, y según la trama, también puede tener lugar después del blip, creo que lo entenderás una vez lo veas, aunque no se hace mención a él.

Werewolf by Night is focused on the mythic and the mystical, debuting a character that shouldn't be missed in the multiversal war that is just beginning with the arrival of Kang on both the big and small screen.
