If you thought that owning and running a modern bank is a complicated business, then you probably never thought that a bank owner would have to use his kung fu skills to protect it from robbers.

I mean, can you imagine a modern bank manager fighting martial arts with armed robbers?

It would be a strange scene, unheard of in the context of business management practices!

Today, banks use security guards, so bank managers do not have to fight bandits with bare hands.

In this kung fu movie, however, the leading actor is a bank owner who does exactly that.

He has hired two alleged martial arts experts to teach him kung fu, so that he can fight robbers away, and keep the money deposits of the bank’s customers safe.

At this point, I would like to comment that, in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis, I’m not sure whether bank managers would rather fight such a crisis and survive, or deal with bank robbers with fists and kicks.

The latter would probably be easier, since the 2008 crisis was an event that truly shook the world and spread out uncontrollably.

The ultimate goal continues to be the same, however, that is, safeguarding the depositors’ money.

This money could come from a geisha, like in this movie.

A geisha has every right to put her hard-earned money in the bank, and demand it to be kept safe.

The scriptwriter is a bit sarcastic in that, implying that the banks do not discriminate whether the money deposited with them comes from the services provided by a geisha to its customers or results from the toil of small-time market sellers, for example.

Both types of cash are equally welcome by the banks, and when it comes to money, the more of it the merrier; as simple as that.

Even a seemingly trusted kung fu teacher can become a traitor, in order to get his “fair” share of the pie.

Another theme discussed in the movie is that of fake experts.

In the world of martial arts, there are so-called experts who present themselves as such, even though they haven’t got a clue.

Some of them can do quite a lot of damage and benefit personally from passing as experts.

Sooner or later, however, their ignorance and incompetence will be exposed.

There’s is nothing hidden under the sun.

This vintage movie offers a different approach to the everyday going-ons in the Chinese society from both a banking and a martial arts point of view.

Mixing the banking transactions of everyday people with the art of kung fu is a fresh and unique look at things that can teach, as well as entertain viewers.

Finally, a blind old man who is a real kung fu master comes to help the bank boss beat the bandits once and for all.

Justice is blind, isn’t it?
