Japan has taken another step toward carving out a larger slice of the global economic pie for itself. They acquired further shares in Legendary to promote their films, brands, and franchises in the West. Not just anime, though that's primarily the case, but also games and TV series. As a reminder, according to my predictions (which coincide with the opinions of friends who also follow Japan and their cartoons), within 10-20 years we will be inundated with content from Japan. There are tons of adaptations, games, and new anime series, often motivated by the Japanese government. Some anime we enjoy were created thanks to strong government support, which said, "We'll put dollars in your pockets, and you can make more episodes of Dragon Ball, Gundam, etc." Speaking of Gundam, Sydney Sweeney said in an interview that work on the film is ongoing every day. She didn't say anything more, but in a few months we might get the first footage from the set or studio.
