[Japanese Buys]
Japan has taken another step toward carving out a larger slice of the global economic pie for itself. They have acquired further shares in Legendary to promote their films, brands, and franchises in the West. Not just anime, although that's primarily the case, but also games and TV series. As a reminder, according to my predictions (which coincide with the opinions of friends who also follow Japan and its cartoons), within 10-20 years we will be flooded with content from Japan. Tons of adaptations, games, and new anime series, often motivated by the Japanese government. Some anime we like were created because of strong government support, which said "we'll put dollars in your pockets and you'll make more episodes of Dragon Ball, Gundam, etc." And speaking of Gundam, Sydney Sweeney said in an interview that work on the movie is going on every day. She didn't say anything more, but in a few months we might get the first footage from the set or studio.

[Kokuho]
Taking this opportunity, if you're in the mood for a good Japanese film, this production seems intriguing. It's a thematically interesting film (apparently with a strong emphasis on Japanese culture), has a good budget, was well-reviewed, and is incredibly popular in Japan. Ken Watanabe stars in the lead role.

[Kpop]
One of the biggest hits of 2025, won a Golden Globe for Best Original Song. It's worth supporting such titles because they indirectly increase the popularity of anime and beyond.

[One Piece]
There will be time for a longer analysis later, and I might post it on my channel this week, but I'll say the same thing I always say – it looks amazing. [S and X: Confession of a Therapist]
Netflix will adapt a comic book that debuted in 2021 and is already finished. It tells the story of a sex therapist who deals with issues affecting both sexes. It will premiere in 2026. Good idea. Contrary to popular belief, many people (yes, not just children) are unaware of their own human, female, or male sexuality, which sometimes leads to uncomfortable situations. The more educational titles like this, the better.

The cult director will direct an anime to celebrate its 50th anniversary. Real Robo is a subgenre of giant robot anime. It focuses on showing mecha used on a real battlefield. While they remain very sci-fi (at least some of the technology would be a complete nightmare for the mechanics team), at least they're trying to give it a more or less realistic feel. Something like the Mobile Suit Gundam series (not all anime in this franchise fall into the real robo subgenre), Gasaraki, or Patlabor.

Japonia poczyniła kolejny krok w celu wykrojenia dla siebie większego kawałka tortu globalnej gospodarki. Nabyli kolejne udziały w Legendary, by móc promować na zachodzie swoje filmy, marki i franczyzy. Nie tylko anime, choć to przede wszystkim, ale też gry, seriale. Przypominam, że zgodnie z moimi predykcjami (które są zbieżne z opiniami znajomych, którzy również śledzą Japonię i bajki ich produkcji) w ciągu 10-20 lat, zostaniemy zalani contentem z Japonii. Mnóstwo adaptacji, gier, nowych serii anime, często motywowanych przez rząd Japoński. Niektóre anime, które lubimy powstały przez silne wsparcie rządu, które mówiło "wrzucamy Wam do kieszeni dolary, a wy róbcie kolejne odcinki Dragon Balla, Gundama etc." A skoro mowa o Gundamie, Sydney Sweeney powiedziała w wywiadzie, że prace nad filmem trwają każdego dnia. Netflix przygotuje adaptację komiksu, który zadebiutował w 2021 i jest już skończony. Opowiada o seksualnym terapeucie, który zajmuje się rozwiązywaniem problemów obu płci. Premiera w 2026. Dobry pomysł. Wbrew pozorom naprawdę wielu ludzi (tak, nie tylko dzieci) nie zdaje sobie sprawy z własnej, ludzkiej, kobiecej lub męskiej seksualności, co czasem prowadzi do niefajnych sytuacji. Im więcej takich edukacyjnych tytułów, tym lepiej.

Kultowy reżyser wyreżyseruje anime z okazji jego 50-lecia. Real Robo to podgatunek anime z wielkimi robotami. Skupia się on na pokazaniu mechów mających zastosowanie na prawdziwym polu bitwy. Co prawda pozostają mocno sci-fi (przynajmniej część tych technologii, stanowiłoby totalny koszmar dla zespołu mechaników), no ale przynajmniej próbują nadać temu większy lub mniejszy realizm. Coś jak seria Mobile Suit Gundam (nie wszystkie anime tej franczyzy należą do podgatunku real robo), Gasaraki albo Patlabor.
