I just finished watching Sinners and honestly… this isn’t a loud muvie, i was expecting something super fancy or extravagant insty’e or action because of the hype, rating and reviews i looked into before watching. The movie is very heavy and quiet at the same time in the sense of passiing deep message accross to the viewers in a receptible way. The approach made it look intense in a way that creeps into you instead of shouting at you.

This amazing work of art is directed by Ryan Coogler and the film centers on twin brothers played by Michael B. Jordan who was Smoke and his brother in the movie. And let me say this clearly playing twins is not just about switching outfits or costumes to show two personalities but he actually became two different energies in the story, he was able to swtch seamlessly between personalities and the both characters and behaviors dont even match i think thats the hardst part. I love smoke tho! He’s my hero in the movie. He feels controlled and calm while the other twin carries a different fire.

I love how the movie started… it’s one of the best opening scenes as it kept me waiting for the next. Seeing the wooden pews, the choir, country hymn and the small rural town i was already expecting to see very good morals and yes! It was taught, well taught. The movie moves slowly, but that’s the point , to build tension through silence and kind of scenes where nobody is shouting but everything feels like it could explode. It’s not heavy in actions but the emotions are heavy. The movie is really centred on moral values and good ethics while using quality catchy country music to hold the viewers and also pass honest message, deep storytelling as well.
Music is a very big part of the movie and for me it’s the catch. The songs in the movie were Grammy Awarded so I had to go watch the whole movie and yes! It was well deserved. Music was the only way they could express themselves truly and be happy without a criteria or standards, which is country music 🎶 ❤️‍🩹.
Personally i enjoyed a lott of music moments, one was when the zombies came to the jukejoint because they were attracted to Smoke’s recruit band’s music, they even offered to pay to join but somehow they were refused and the zombie leader recruited his own sweet team of zombie country singers lol they sang absolutely well i wont lie.

Sinners is heavy on sin and worldly moments compared to how the Christian and real moral ethics comes to a constant clash. From the beginning you’d see when smoke and his brother came to the church to pick up their little cousin Sammie who’s the pastor’s son but a wonderful guitarist and melodious country singer, whom the dad has also warned about the sins of country and blues music especially. But i understand Sammie, circular music lets you express anything without borders and it’s like a confession to them. Same with other singers in the movie like Delta slim the instrumentalist and singer, and some others but the movie shows a contrast and leaves us to judge but for me, I only find ways to understand instead.

What I liked most is the theme of duality abd how he used same face to depict life based on different choices, decisions and lifestyle even coming from the same roots. It makes you think about identity and whether we’re shaped more by blood or by decisions

Its the best movie ive watched this year, wont say too much 😅😅 because i want you to go watch it and for the rating? Its a solid 9.1/10 for me.
