The Day of Remembrance: A Proclamation of Hope and Unity

TRANSCRIPT:

Ladies and Gentlemen,

One year ago, an event of unprecedented proportions shook the world. On July 16, 1945, a cosmic anomaly materialized on the fringe of our solar system. The emergence of this inexplicable phenomenon led to cataclysmic global upheavals, abruptly ending World War II, as nations grappled to comprehend and survive this new enemy.

The Anomaly, a force beyond our current scientific understanding, has fundamentally altered our reality. Its appearance has not only led to the physical distortion of our world but has also spawned terrifying creatures unknown to science. The global impact of The Anomaly was swift and devastating – over 700 million lives lost, nations left in ruins, and humanity thrust into a new era of uncertainty and fear.

Nations that once stood as powerful pillars in the global and historical arena have been brought to their knees. China and Russia have been demolished and are nations no longer. Their people have been scattered into the wind. South America spiraled into chaos, leading to one of the greatest migrations our world has ever witnessed. Europe is engaged in a desperate battle to stave off disintegration. In the midst of these catastrophic global changes, the United States remains standing, a beacon of hope in a world plunging into an abyss.

Yet, we must not forget that we are not isolated in our struggle. As we commemorate this anniversary, we do so alongside the rest of humanity, united in our shared experience and our shared resolve to overcome.
Today, as your President, I hereby declare July 16 as The Day of Remembrance. This will be a day of national observance, a day where we remember those we lost, a day where we commemorate our resilience, and a day where we renew our commitment to face the unknown together.
Unlike traditional celebrations marked by feasts and merriment, The Day of Remembrance will be a solemn observance characterized by fasting, silence, and the lighting of candles. Each flickering flame representing a life lost, a hope kindled, and our collective resolve to march on.

We extend an invitation to all nations, irrespective of their past alliances or conflicts, to participate in this Day of Remembrance. Despite the trials and tribulations we have faced and the evils we have inflicted upon each other, we remain hopeful. Hopeful in the indomitable spirit of man, in the relentless pursuit of knowledge by our men and women of science, and in the guiding hand of God. This hope is not a naive dream, but a testament to our strength, our resolve to endure, to learn, to rebuild.

As we remember, we also look forward. We look forward to a future where we have gained mastery over the forces brought about by The Anomaly. A future where we have turned this adversity into an opportunity to advance our understanding of the universe and our place within it. A future where we stand as a united world, joined together in our shared human experience.

In light of these events, I appeal to each one of you, irrespective of your political affiliations, race, or creed, to support our efforts in understanding and combating The Anomaly. Scientists, researchers, and experts in all fields – we need your knowledge and expertise. Laborers, workers, and everyday heroes – we need your strength and resilience.

I call upon the Congress of the United States to establish a commission dedicated to the investigation and understanding of The Anomaly. We must pool our resources, knowledge, and capabilities to navigate through this crisis. This is not just a national endeavor but a global one. This commission will not only represent the United States but humanity as a whole.

We have been thrust into a new era, one fraught with uncertainty and danger. Yet, it is also an era of unprecedented potential. We hold within our hands the power to turn tragedy into triumph, to turn adversity into advancement.
As we mark this Day of Remembrance, let us not be daunted by the enormity of our task. Instead, let us be inspired by the challenge that lies before us. Let us remember that we are not just survivors, but pioneers on the frontiers of a new age.

And so, in the spirit of unity, resilience, and hope, we step forward into this new era. Guided by the light of knowledge, bolstered by our faith and inspired the dream of a better tomorrow, we march on.

God bless you all, and God bless the United States of America.
