The Recruit - (Netflix 2022)

Another great tv show on Netflix

While most people were probably watching Christmas movies with the family, we mostly let our daughter decide what to watch during the day and switched to "our tv time" in the evenings. A few days ago, we saw The Watcher and then I found "The Recruit". I read the info and saw it was about a guy called Owen Hendricks who was a freshly hired lawyer at the CIA. As the tagline in the filmposter from Netflix mentions, inexperiences is an asset, at least this seems to be the case.

Working for the CIA

Seems to come with quite a few challenges as well as having trust issues with about everyeone you work with. At least, it seems everyone is willing to let the new guy take the fall for things when everything goes south. With Owen being the new kid around, he sure is thrown into the deep from the first week he works there and while he's assigned some important job, co-workers are wondering what's so special about him that he seems to be working his way up rapidly.

Greymail case

Within his first week Owen needs to search through a pile of greymail cases to figure out if the threats against the CIA to expose classified information is valid and if these people have something against them or not. Owen finds a letter from Max Meladze that seems to be serious and gets assigned to the case to visit her in jail. He soon finds out he's on to a serious case and gets sucked in this case rapidly. Maxime Meladze knows very well how to manipulate people, including Owen, but he seems to be learning fast how to deal with her.

Fed to the wolves

I will not spoil how the case is going to end but I can tell you that Max probably has a hard initiation compared to a lot of other people on the first weeks of the job. I think people resign for much less, that's for sure! I really liked seeing how Owen learns fast in his role as a lawyer for the CIA, I would not expect a lawyer to be thrown into a wolves nest like this in real life but it's the CIA so it may very well be the case in real life too, who knows.

Conclusion

The show will also involve a good sense of humor and of course a little bit of romance. I personally like Noa Centineo who plays the role of Owen Hendricks. I truly hope that there will be a season 2 of this show because I was all sucked into it and not ready to stop watching, lol. But when I checked how new this tv show was, I found out it's just live since December 16, so most-likely another season will take at least another year, but probably longer. Oh well, it was a nice watch, so I'd recommend you watching it.

Here's the trailer in case you want to check it out:

I just started this series alongside other films like Glass Onion and I must say, I have been sucked in as well.

It is the way the humor is served that I love about the show. I am not done yet, but I am curious to see how it all plays out for Owen and Max.

Aha, so you got sucked in as well.. I often also watch two shows at the same time, especially when one is more for me alone and my boyfriend doesn't follow that one, I watch it in bed haha.

Have fun watching, I will not spoil anything for you..

Thanks I might check it out. I am outside the cinema now and there is nothing to watch except Avatar. Where have all the big film releases gone? It seems there are only good Netflix series now.

Honestly, I didn't read everything you typed here, but I've seen the movie and I absolutely loved it. I mean, asides from the fact that I have a huge crush on the main character, especially when he plays the usual loverboy role. I'll give it a 10/10 by the way.
