I just finished watching the 2025 Korean drama The Witch, and wow, it really got to me. It’s not just a love story, but it’s emotional, mysterious, and honestly quite heartbreaking at times.

The main character, Mi-jeong (played by Roh Jeong-eui), is a young woman people call "the witch" because something strange keeps happening around her, particularly when it involves male that have feeling for her and confess it. Every man who falls in love with her ends up dying. Because of this, she’s lived a lonely life, avoiding relationships and blaming herself for things that may not even be her fault. She was so devastated seeing different guys sustaining different degrees of injuries while few others who break the variable or hypothesis surrounding her died

Her story is really sad. Her father died when she was still young, and her mother passed away right after giving birth to her. It’s like she’s been surrounded by loss from the beginning, and she starts to believe that she’s cursed.

Then there’s Dong-jin (played by Park Jin-young), a guy who used to be her classmate. He’s smart, works with data, and doesn’t believe in curses. When they meet again as adults, he decides to find out the truth behind all the strange things happening to Mi-jeong. Instead of being afraid of her like everyone else, he chooses to believe in her. Although, he suffers various degree injuries while trying to unravel the mystery behind her ordeals.

What I loved most about this drama is how real the characters felt. Mi-jeong isn’t just some scary girl with a curse. She’s someone who wants love, peace, and a normal life. You can really feel her pain and fear. Dong-jin isn’t just a hero; he’s patient and kind, and he shows how powerful love and trust can be.

The drama also serves as a reminder of how society treats people who are "different." Mi-jeong was judged and feared her whole life, not because of what she did, but because of rumours and fear. That part really is heartbreaking.

I can also comment on the pacing that is good, the music fits perfectly, and the chemistry between the two leads is amazing. Even though it’s only 10 episodes, it tells a full, beautiful story.

I will say if you like dramas that mix love, mystery, sadness, and hope, The Witch is worth watching. It’ll make you think, feel, and maybe even cry a little. But in the end, it’s a story about healing, and sometimes, believing in someone is the best kind of magic.
