Greetings Hivers! Community of movies and tv show, enthusiastic people about the big screen,🎬 I come to give a perspective about a movie I saw some time ago and of which I am encouraged to write these lines.
The title of the movie in English "The Doctor" in German (country of origin of the movie) "Der Medicus".
This is a great work of art, a film that fully shows medicine from medieval times, where religion, witchcraft, beliefs commanded much of the human being.
The human body a perfect machine, the creation of "God" made flesh; a total labyrinth for the primitive man who began to scrutinize the process health - disease.
This film dates from 2013, in a modern era where technology reigns, making this type of film is a real challenge, the creativity of the director, production, in a field as trite as "medicine" have to be matched to reach the public, give a message and above all to be liked.
The film begins with a "magician/sorcerer/healer" (Barber) who is the center of attention for the entire English village, where the environment is conducive to give talks, shows about magic - sorcery, knowledge about certain diseases and thus capture popularity among the villagers.
A small family shows a woman who suffers from the famous "flank disease"; key disease for what will be the rest of the film, this condition will leave the woman lifeless and her children will be orphaned, entering the story of Rob Cole (Jesse), with a promise to be a doctor will join the Barber, to learn surgical techniques, medicinal, and / or empirical learning about the human body.

Jesse, had a dream, to be a doctor, to help people, to find the cure for the flank disease, at this moment that disease, if not treated, is a mortal, it follows a very dangerous clinical course, just like me, when I saw the movie I was very curious about that disease, don't worry you too who read me, you feel that curiosity; at the end of this post you will realize that it is a more common pathology than you imagine, but if I tell you that now if it is not diagnosed - treated (especially the treatment), it is deadly, imagine how it was in that era.
In his apprenticeship with the barber, he realized that he did not have much more to learn from this character, his knowledge was limited, and he could not obtain his much appreciated study of medicine; during the filming you will see certain procedures, such as cutting legs with a saw (then in this instant you imagine the beginning of traumatology), you observe pulling out a tooth (that fantastic dentistry) but at the same time, this person dies some time later 😕😕 then, my dear reader if you are a medical student, or any person related to the field of health you will have an idea of the cause of death.

Our young adventurer, learning about a Middle Eastern medical school, must head to Persia.
In Persia is a medical school of Avicenna, during his journey a little bumpy, he meets the love of his life, a pretty young woman, who tells him about a rise in temperature and treats her with water to reduce it (coincidence of life), intuition, or empiricism doing its thing for the treatment of diseases.
Jesse (Rob Cole) as proof of destiny arrives in Persia, where he is trained in the medical art, little by little he discovers skills, acquiring knowledge in various branches; the poppy (anesthesia); little things that in real life make the difference framed in a movie; The bubonic plague that affected during that time, and the doctors have the great responsibility to decide who "lives" and who "does not", something very hard for any human being, in those periods where the health systems (as in the present COVID - 19) collapse, there is no turning back, the decisions that are taken are very drastic.
We can see how epidemiology is born by placing numbers on the disease, deaths, patients who are cured, vector control, during this writing I have mentioned so many medical branches that date back to its historical beginnings.
In our modern environment, we should be grateful for having the information at a click away, all the anatomists who had the courage to study cadavers, write their notes, to transmit the knowledge to future generations, an important break point in the field of medicine, this young student does it on the sly, and thanks to his illustrations captured on paper served for other students.
Jesse, takes a corpse that suffered the same deadly disease as his mother, decides to study it, thanks to that at the end of the film he was able to save the life of the "Shah" who in gratitude saves the life of the woman of his life, and gives him a secret hiding place so that they can leave and not suffer death in battle.
The disease of the side, let's talk a little about it, this disease that affects a particular age group, mainly the extremes of life, no one is exempt from suffering from it, today its definitive treatment is surgical to save the patient's life, if not diagnosed in time, it will evolve to a peritonitis and later a much more serious complication, (death); I do not want to be spoiler with this pathology, I comment it this way for you to see and enjoy the movie.

El título de la película en español “El Médico” en alemán (país de origen de la película) “Der Medicus”.
Esta es una gran obra de arte, una película que muestra a plenitud la medicina desde tiempos medievales, donde la religión, la brujería (hechicería), las creencias comandaban mucho sobre el ser humano.
El cuerpo humano una maquina perfecta, la creación de “Dios” hecha carne; un total laberinto para el hombre primitivo que empezaba a escudriñar en el proceso salud – enfermedad.
Esta película data del año 2013, en una era moderna donde reina la tecnología, hacer este tipo de filme son un verdadero reto, la creatividad del director, producción, en un campo tan trillado como lo es la “medicina” tienen que equipararse para llegar al público, dar un mensaje y sobre todo que guste.
La película comienza con un “mago/hechicero/curandero” (Barbero) el cual es el centro de atención para todo el pueblo inglés, donde el ambiente es propicio para dar charlas, espectáculos acerca de magia – hechicería, conocimiento sobre ciertas enfermedades y de esa manera captar popularidad entre los pobladores.
Una familia pequeña muestra una mujer que sufre la famosa “enfermedad del costado”; enfermedad clave para lo que será el resto de la película, esta afección, dejara sin vida a dicha mujer y sus hijos quedaran huérfanos, entrando la historia de Rob Cole (Jesse), con una promesa de ser médico se unirá al Barbero, para aprender técnicas quirúrgicas, medicinales, y/o aprender empíricamente sobre el cuerpo humano.
Imagina como era el tiempo hace años atrás, desde la época de Hipócrates (el padre de la medicina), donde reinaba el empirismo, abrir cadáveres era penado por la iglesia, y/o diversas personas veían eso como un ritual mágico – religioso maligno, sin lugar a dudas, alguien tenía que dar el primer paso, gracias a nuestros maestros de esa época, con el paso del tiempo se fueron aprendiendo tantas cosas de las cuales hoy se conocen, gracias a ellos podemos definir, lo que es una vena, arteria, nervio, la anatomía humana en su total esplendor.
Jesse, tenía un sueño, ser médico, para ayudar a las personas, encontrar la cura de la enfermedad del costado, en este momento actual esa enfermedad, de no ser tratada, es un mortal, sigue un curso clínico muy peligroso, al igual que yo, cuando vi la película tenía mucha curiosidad sobre dicha enfermedad, descuida tu también que me lees, sientes esa curiosidad; al finalizar este post te darás cuenta que es una patología más común de lo que imaginas, pero si te digo que ahorita de no ser diagnosticada – tratada (sobre todo el tratamiento), es mortal, imagina como era en aquella era.
En su paso de aprendiz con el barbero, se dio cuenta que ya no tenía mucho mas que aprender de este personaje, su conocimiento era limitado, y no podía obtener su tan apreciado estudio de la medicina; durante el rodaje se verán ciertos procedimientos, tales como cortar piernas con una sierra (entonces en este instante te imaginas el inicio de la traumatología), observas sacar un diente (que fantástico odontología) pero a su misma vez, dicha persona fallece un tiempo después 😕😕 entonces, mi querido lector si eres estudiante de medicina, o alguna persona afín al campo de la salud tendrás una idea de la causa de la muerte.
El hecho de no contar con la época maravillosa de los antibióticos muchas infecciones gobernaban, estoy hablando de una endocarditis bacteriana, como posible causa de muerte, entonces empezamos asociar la ciencia, lo que la fisiopatología nos enseña; todo se vuelve tan bonito, entendible, tal vez porque estoy en este campo y entiendo, pero de igual manera es merecedora de que la vean.
Nuestro joven aventurero, se entera acerca de una escuela de medicina del medio oriente, debe dirigirse a Persia.
En persia se encuentra una escuela de medicina de Avicena, durante su trayecto un poco accidentado, se encuentra con el amor de su vida, una joven linda, la cual le habla sobre un aumento de temperatura y la trata con agua para disminuir la misma (casualidad de la vida), intuición, o el empirismo haciendo de las suyas para el tratamiento de las enfermedades.
Jesse (Rob Cole) como prueba del destino llega a Persia, donde se adiestrara en el arte médico, poco a poco va descubriendo habilidades, adquiriendo conocimientos en diversas ramas; la amapola (anestesia); pequeñas cosas que en la vida real hacen la diferencia enmarcadas en una película; la peste bubónica que afecto durante la época, y los médicos tienen la gran responsabilidad en decidir quien “vive” y quien “no”, algo muy duro para cualquier ser humano, en esos periodos donde los sistemas de salud (como en la actualidad COVID – 19); colapsan, no hay marcha atrás, las decisiones que se toman son muy drásticas.
Se ve como nace la epidemiología colocando números sobre la enfermedad, fallecidos, pacientes que sanan, control de vectores, durante este escrito he mencionado tantas ramas médicas que datan en sus inicios históricos.
En nuestro entorno moderno, debemos ser agradecidos por tener la información a un click de distancia, todos los anatomistas que tuvieron la valentía de estudiar cadáveres, escribir sus apuntes, para transmitir el conocimiento a las futuras generaciones, un punto de quiebre importante en el campo de la medicina, este joven estudiante lo hace a escondidas, y gracias a sus ilustraciones plasmadas en papel sirvieron para otros estudiantes.
Jesse, toma a un cadáver que sufrió la misma enfermedad mortal que su madre, se decide a estudiarlo, gracias a eso al final de la película pudo salvarle la vida al “Shah” quien en agradecimiento le salva la vida a la mujer de su vida, y le da un escondite secreto para que puedan marcharse y no sufrir la muerte en batalla.
La enfermedad del costado, hablemos un poco de ello, esta enfermedad que afecta a un grupo etario en particular, principalmente los extremos de la vida, nadie esta exento de padecerla, al día de hoy su tratamiento definitivo es quirúrgico para salvar la vida del paciente, de no ser diagnosticada a tiempo, evolucionara a una peritonitis y posteriormente una complicación mucho más grave, (la muerte); no quiero ser spoiler con esta patología, te la comento de esta manera para que veas y disfrutes de la película.
Donde quiera que se ama el arte de la Medicina se ama también a la humanidad

Ciertamente le debemos mucho a estos hombres que dejaron todo ese conocimiento, debió ser difícil cada patología en ese tiempo, la verdad más que interesante ver está película, creo que tiene mucha educación dentro de ella y me va encantar verla.

Una película histórica de como el conocimiento se va abriendo paso. Leí el libro y luego vi la película ambos excelentes materiales para ubicarnos en un mundo que requería de muchas fortalezas para dar los primeros pasos.

Si vale! El médico desde tiempos remotos ha tenido que escudriñar, estudiar, luchar contra las enfermedades para poder dar un diagnóstico preciso y de esa manera dar una mejor calidad de vida al paciente. Está película está dentro de mis favoritas.
