It's an American neo-Western murder mystery film, written and directed by Taylor Sheridan. In this film he made his directorial debut, starring Jeremy Renner (as Cory) and Elizabeth Olsen (as Jane). Cory is a Fish and Wildlife Agent, and also he's an expert hunter, who while doing his job found the frozen corpse of a young native girl named Natalie, whom he knew very well since she was a child. She was found without her winter clothes, barefoot and with blood on her groin. He reports the body and they send in an FBI agent named Jane, but she turns out to be a rookie who, due to her lack of experience, doesn't seem to be the best person to determine whether or not the young woman had been murdered.

En esta película debutó como director, protagonizada por Jeremy Renner (como Cory) y Elizabeth Olsen (como Jane). Cory es un Agente de Pesca y Vida Silvestre, a su vez es un cazador experto que mientras realizaba su trabajo encontró el cadáver congelado de una joven nativa llamada Natalie, a la que conocía muy bien desde que era una niña. Fue encontrada sin su ropa de invierno, descalza y con sangre en la ingle. Reporta el cuerpo y envían a una agente del FBI llamada Jane, pero resulta ser una novata que debido a su falta de experiencia no parece la más indicada para determinar si la joven había sido asesinada o no.

This story grabbed me from the moment Cory found Natalie's body, the way he reacted immediately made it clear how affected he was not only by what he had found, but by something else, and from that moment on it piqued my interest. Also this story is set in a pretty remote part of the world, in a reservation called Wind River so I figured that solving the mystery was going to be more complicated than usual, and I was even more interested when Jane makes her appearance, because you can tell that she's out of her zone and that the case would be too big for her.

Esta historia me atrapó desde el momento en el que Cory halló el cuerpo de Natalie, la manera en la que el reaccionó dio a entender de inmediato lo afectado que estaba no solo por lo que había encontrado, sino por algo más y desde ese momento despertó mi interés. Además esta historia se desarrolla en una parte bastante remota, en una Reserva llamada Wind River por lo que deduje que resolver el misterio iba a resultar más complicado de lo usual, y me interesó aún más cuando Jane hace su aparición, porque a leguas se nota que esta fuera de su zona y que el caso le quedaría grande.

I was interested in this film because of the leads, I had seen Jenner in a lot of different roles, but this was the first time I had the opportunity to see Olsen in a role other than Wanda, so I was immediately interested in. I was pleasantly surprised 'cause I usually watch movies without reading the synopsis or reading any reviews, the little information I get is when someone recommend it to me, but I still only ask them to tell me very briefly what the plot is about, so I had no idea what it was about and didn't really have any expectations, to my surprise it was a great story.

Me interesé por esta película debido a los protagonista, a Jenner si lo había visto interpretando muchísimos papeles distintos, pero era la primera vez que tenía la oportunidad de ver a Olsen en un papel diferente al de Wanda, por eso me interesó de inmediato. Me encontré gratamente sorprendido porque suelo ver las películas sin leer la sinopsis o sin leer ninguna reseña, la poca información que obtengo es cuando me la recomiendan, pero igual solo pido que muy brevemente me cuenten de que va la trama, así que no tenía ni idea sobre que trataba y realmente no tenía ninguna expectativa, para mí sorpresa fue una grandiosa historia.

Unlike his previous stories the only thing I didn't like was the fact that the bad guys didn't have a clear, logical or justified reason to do what they did, they just did it, that felt very empty and without much sense tbh, the good thing was that they were formidable enemies and when all hell breaks loose, although there is a lot of action and not the usual, with that they overshadow a lot the mystery of the crime, and the story takes another path.

A diferencia de sus anteriores historias lo único que no fue de mi agrado, fue el hecho de que los chicos malos no tenían un motivo claro, lógico o justificado para hacer lo que hacían, solo lo hicieron sin más, eso se sintió muy vacío y sin mucho sentido, lo bueno fue que si eran enemigos formidables y cuando se desata todo, aunque hay mucha acción y no pasa lo típico, con eso eclipsan muchísimo el misterio del crimen, y la historia toma otro camino.

I thought the script was good, the scenery was beautiful, which makes this film visually very attractive, the story is excellent, it has some very good twists and turns as well, and the acting of everyone in general were great too. From my point of view there are no dull moments, far from it, and although none of the main characters seemed to have a leading position, in this case it worked very well, and it was a very good dynamic where everyone has their moment in the spotlight.

Esta película se desarrolla de manera excelente, el guión me pareció que estuvo bien, también habían paisajes muy hermosos lo que hace a este filme visualmente muy atractivo, la historia es excelente, tiene unos giros muy buenos también, al igual que la actuación de todos en general. Desde mi punto de vista no hay momentos aburridos ni mucho menos, y aunque ninguno de los protagonistas pareció tener una posición de líder, en este caso funcionó muy bien, y fue una dinámica muy buena donde cada quién tiene su momento en el reflector.

Because of her lack of experience Jane enlists Cory's help in the investigation, 'cause his tracking skills are excellent and together she hopes to increase the remote chances of solving the mystery behind Natalie's death. He's more than willing to help, for him to solve this case and find the culprit, would mean making up for a very personal mistake he made in the past that cost the life of someone very close to him, so he'll do everything in his power to find the possible murderer of his daughter's best friend.

Por su falta de experiencia Jane pide ayuda a Cory para que colabore en la investigación, porque su habilidad de rastreo es excelente y junto él espera aumentar las remotas posibilidades de resolver el misterio tras la muerte de Natalie. El está más que dispuesto a ayudar, para él resolver ese caso y encontrar a el culpable, significaría compensar de alguna manera un error muy personal que cometió en el pasado y le costó la vida a alguien muy cercano, por eso hará todo en su poder para encontrar al posible asesino de la mejor amiga de su hija.

A curious thing about this story is that the director and writer, Sheridan, commented that he worked on this story in order to make a kind of wake-up call about the excessive increase of native women being raped and murdered, both on and off reservations. In the story they give an insight into why it happens so much, and apparently it's because of living in such a remote area, the conditions in which they live and also because of the small population, there is a shortage of women to relate to and that becomes the main reason why they are sexually abused, out of necessity."

Algo curioso sobre esta historia es que el director y escritor Sheridan, comentó que trabajó en esta historia con el fin de hacer una especie de llamado de atención, para que se tuviera en cuenta el incremento excesivo de mujeres nativas que habían sido violadas y asesinadas, tanto en reservas como fuera de ellas. En la historia dan a enteder por qué sucede tanto, y aparentemente se debe a que por vivir en una zona tan apartada, las condiciones en las que viven y también a causa de la poca población, hay escases de mujeres con las que relacionarse y ese se convierte en el principal motivo por el que abusan sexualmente de ellas, por necesidad.
