Hi, my dear Movie and Series lovers!

You won't believe it, but I didn't sleep until 4 am because I wanted to know how it would all end. And you realy can't tell it's true judging by the name of the show! Still would I, a lover of horror, thrillers and films about the apocalypse, see some kind of porridge out of love with death! And yet it happened.

How did it happen that I even started watching this. A link to this series appeared in the Telegram horror channel, to which I am subscribed.

From the very first frame, it was a strange feeling. First, the opening screensaver. Pictures from the life of a small provincial town in Texas. Everything here is the way I like it: interiors, features of social life, the fashion of that time (the action takes place in the late 70s). But ... if you look carefully, you can pay attention to various little things. Here is a beautiful fence around the flower garden, but some boards are broken.... here is a beautiful service, but there is a crack on the plate... Everything is beautiful, everything corresponds to social norms, but somewhere inside there is a problem.

Love & Death is an American crime drama streaming television miniseries directed by Lesli Linka Glatter and Clark Johnson, written by David E. Kelley that premiered on April 27, 2023, on HBO Max. It stars Elizabeth Olsen as Candy Montgomery, with Jesse Plemons, Lily Rabe, Patrick Fugit, Krysten Ritter, Tom Pelphrey, Elizabeth Marvel and Keir Gilchrist. It centres around Montgomery living a stereotypical housewife lifestyle in the late 1970's, but after an affair with her neighbour, leads to a murder.

Another show centred on the same plot came out a year before by Hulu and a movie loosely based on the events of Montgomery came out in 1990.

The series received mainly positive reviews, praising its performances (particularly from Olsen), its take on Montgomery and finding humanity in her and its cinematography and set pieces. On June 1st 2023, Max announced it was their most watched show globally surpassing Station Eleven, they also announced by its finale episode it had a 59% increase in viewership.

The first episode seemed pretty boring to me. I didn’t understand why I was watching this and wasting my time, but for some reason I kept watching. Probably because the annotation for the series was written about the ax and I really wanted to know in whose hands it would end up.

Everything is ambiguous here: the plot, the actions of the characters, the decision of the jury. Everything is like in life, which is not surprising, because the series is based on real events. I was left with a heavy aftertaste after watching it. I don’t even know why, I’m not very impressionable when it comes to cinema. In general, if you are depressed, I do not recommend it. If you are OK, then watch this series!
