I’ve a thing for romance dramas and movies, but korean dramas have made me fall deeper in love with romance genre—they put in so much emotion, that one forgets it’s just a drama and nothing more.

Melo Movie is a korean drama with twelve (12) episodes, that delves into themes of love, loneliness, complexities in relationships and personal growth within the film industry. It stars Choi Woo Shik and Park Bo-young.

Choi Woo Shik who played as Ko Gyeom lost his parents at a very young age, he had an older brother Kim Jae-Wook who starred as Ko Jun in the series. After the death of their parents, Ko Jun put his life on hold and began taking care of Ko Gyeom—he took on all kinds of job to send Ko Gyeom to school, cater to all his needs and give him a better life, he filled the gap left by their lost parents. Ko Gyeom later grew to become a die hard film critic, his dream when he was a kid was to watch every movie ever produced.

Ko Gyeom began working in the film industry and there he met Park Bo-young who starred as Kim Mu-bee.

Kim Mu-bee was a movie director who struggled with an emotional baggage she carried with her, her father was once a director in the film industry but died on his way to a movie production. She resented her father before and after his death, because he barely spent quality time with her and cancelled plans at the last minute. She concluded her father loved his passion for film making more than he even loved her and after his death, struggled to let go of those emotions.

Ko Gyeom met Mu-bee at a film production interview he went for and fell in love with her, although she found it difficult to reciprocate the love due to her emotional complications. But when she finally decided to give love a chance, Ko Gyeom disappeared.

Ko Gyeom’s disappearance was as a result of his brother’s fatal accident, which left him bedridden. Ko Gyeom began taking care of Ko Jun, but fate reconnected him and Mu-bee back after five years. Their reconnection set the stage for personal healing and growth.

Just when things looked bright, Ko Gyeom lost his brother—he was left alone again and his pain resurfaced even stronger.

Rating- The character development lies in the rich emotional journeys of Ko Gyeom and Kim Mu-bee, they brought their characters to life. It’s a beautiful and powerful korean drama that’s absolutely worth your time.

Park Bo-young has constantly proven that she’s one of the best actresses in korean entertainment industry, she is damn too good.

I’ll rate it a 9/10.

It’s available to watch on Netflix.

Thank you for your continuous support. 🙏
