Ya que si bien nosotros cuando hablamos de grandes voces que marcaron la historia de la música, es casi imposible no mencionar al gran Freddie Mercury, una persona quién rompió las reglas, estereotipos y dejó una gran huella en la cultura musical. Esta película se estrenó en 2018, y no sólo hablaremos de una traba biográfica sobre el vocalista de Queen, sino observaremos todo un viaje que nos relata la evolución de todo el grupo y como la personalidad de cada uno junto a la pasión los lleva a convertirse en una leyenda.

LOS INICIOS DE UNA ESTRELLA:

Freddie, antes llamado Farrokh Bulsara era un joven que trabajaba en el aeropuerto cargando maletas y que siempre soñó con algo más. Su vida cambia por completo cuando conoce a Brian May y Roger Taylor, quienes ellos ya formaban parte de una banda. Freddie intentó llamar su atención con su carisma y su voz fuera de lo común... lo que lo lleva a unirse a ellos y juntos deciden crear un nuevo camino bajo el nombre que todos conocemos hoy el día: Queen.

Algo que me agrada la película es que muestra todo el proceso que tiene el grupo, ya que Queen no buscaba copiar tendencias o seguir con los estereotipos de otras bandas... Ellos siempre buscaban resaltar, innovar pero sobre todo experimentar creando cosas distintas. El que resaltaba más era Freddie, ya que siempre insistía con romper el molde y "Salir fuera de la caja", explorando sonidos nuevos y jugando con múltiples ritmos (Desde ópera hasta el rock pesado). Esa audacia o ese "Espíritu artístico" es uno de los motores que impulsa a toda la banda hacia un reconocimiento a nivel mundial.

Uno de los momentos para recordar de esta obra es la creación de la canción que le da el nombre a la película "Bohemian Rhapsody", el ver como Freddie lleva al estudio un concepto denominado "imposible" ya que era una canción de 6 minutos que mezclaba rock, ópera y balada. Sin embargo, Queen siempre se permitió soñar más allá de lo convencional... ya que después de muchas discusiones con encargados discográficos que aseguraban que una pieza como tal sonaría en la radio, terminó siendo una de las canciones más famosas y revolucionarias.

RELACIÓN E IDENTIDAD:

Esta película también toca algo muy delicado en aquella época que es la búsqueda de identidad de Freddie Mercury. Su relación con Mary Austin muestra su faceta más vulnerable, ya que ella fue su apoyo cuando él aún intentaba comprender su orientación sexual y su lugar en el mundo. Esta obra nos muestra que Mary fue su "amor de vida", aunque posteriormente esta relación evolucionara hacia una amistad muy profunda e inquebrantable.

Al mismo tiempo, se muestra ese lado oscuro de la fama, la soledad, las malas influencias y el aislamiento emocional. Freddie tiene varios momentos de autodestrucción que contrastan mucho con el brillo que muestra en el escenario. Estos momentos son los que hace que la película no sea una simple historia o biografía musical, sino también el retrato de un ser humano enfrentándose a sí mismo.

UN TEMA DELICADO QUE MARCA LA HISTORIA:

Un tema importante que toca la película es el diagnóstico de VIH que recibió Freddie, en esta obra manejan ese tema con respeto y enseñando que en lugar de rendirse, él decide seguir cantando, grabando y dando lo mejor de sí en lo que le apasiona. Freddie no quería que su enfermedad lo definiera.

Más allá del trama, el mensaje que nos brindan es algo muy fuerte... Ya que el arte sobrevive, incluso cuando el cuerpo no lo hace. Y así es como culmina esta película, con la recreación del concierto Live Aid... uno de los momentos más icónicos y representativos donde la energía, la conexión con el público y la entrega total de Freddie ante el escenario generando un cierre emocional y explosivo.

Finalmente, recomiendo mucho esta película por que nos enseña que el talento puede romper barreras, el ser auténtico y salir de los estereotipos es algo que no tiene precio y que la música puede ser una forma de libertad. Es una completa experiencia emocional ya que se encuentra lleno de momentos y actuaciones memorables... y obviamente todo un soundtrack que nos hará disfrutar de esta película por completo!.
