Hablar del cine de los años 90' es hablar de una de las décadas más productivas e impresionantes de la historia de la cinematografía en cuanto al entretenimiento se refiere.
Poco a poco los efectos especiales que habían visto luz en los 80' estaban tomando nuevas dimensiones y haciendo realidad las fantasías más alocadas de muchos atrevidos directores.
Uno de los primeros en llevar a cabo una obra colosal en aquella década noventera fue nuestro amigo James Cameron.
Después de deleitarnos y hacer gritar a muchos de emoción con su Terminator en 1986, se planteó el reto de superar lo que se había visto y llevarlo a otro nivel.
En 1992 llega la que para mí es mi película favorita con Arnold Schwarzenegger y la que considero que ha sido la mejor película de acción que se ha rodado (aunque es cierto que Mad Max Fury Road es una más que digna competidora para este galardón imaginario).
Terminator 2: Judgment Day
Obviamente hay que esgrimir razones para defender dicho enunciado y por qué se lleva mi favoritismo, y aquí van las mías:
Acción Total
Es difícil una película donde la acción se distribuya a todo lo largo de la misma. Terminator 2 no da respiro al espectador, colmando casi toda su duración de escenas trepidantes, emocionantes y muy bien rodadas.
Hay pocos ejemplos de lo anterior en la historia del cine, es difícil encontrar películas donde las escenas de acción hablen, en vez de que lo hagan los diálogos. Otros ejemplos dignos se los llevan: Mád Max 2, Mad Max:Fury Road o Aliens.
Los protagonistas
El cine de acción no siempre necesita de brillantes interpretaciones cargadas de dramatismo para dejar personajes memorables, y Terminator 2 así lo demuestra.
Tenemos dos transformaciones sencillamente brillantes de dos de los personajes que protagonizaron Terminator en el 86'.
Sarah Connor
Forma parte de la selecta galería de personajes femeninos que se han labrado un lugar en el palmarés de grandes personajes de las películas de acción, junto a Ripley y Furiosa.
Sobria, fuerte e inolvidable Linda Hamilton.
T-800
La máquina que quería aniquilador a los Connor y que sembró el miedo en la cinta de 1986 se supo ganar toda nuestra simpatía y cariño cumpliendo la labor de defender con toda su integridad a John Connor. El rol que inmortalizó a Schwarzenneger como uno de las mejores figuras de acción de todos los tiempos.
John Connor
El lazo humano que la historia necesita, Edward Furlong siempre será recordado por este genial trabajo, imposible no haberse sentido identificado con John, sobre todo habiendo sido un niño en los 90' y queriendo vivir una aventura tan emocionante como la suya.
T-1000
El villano que no tiene que hablar para sembrar terror ahí adónde va. Probablemente el más insistente, terco y mejor logrado de los villanos de todo el género. Un super cyborg preparado para cumplir sus objetivos de forma imparable.
Los Efectos Especiales:
Indudablemente James Cameron logró un perfecto equilibrio entre efectos prácticos y un impresionante CGI para la época (que vale recalcar, sigue vigente y ha envejecido formidablemente), tal cual haría Steven Spielberg con su Jurassic Park un año después.
Cómo el T-1000 transforma su estado materia, especialmente la escena que traspasa la reja del hospital psiquiátrico, los destrozos de los vehículos, cómo el T-800 se deteriora a medida que la batalla hace mella de él, forman el collage de imágenes que perduran siempre en mi memoria.
La Banda Sonora
Quizá la banda sonora de Brad Friedel no entre entre las más memorables de la historia del séptimo arte, pero sin duda alguna irradia personalidad, sobriedad y ese sonido noventero que caracterizaba al cine de acción de aquellos gloriosos años, cuando su banda sonora toca su última pieza y da entrada a los títulos de crédito, marca fin a una historia que nunca quisimos ver terminar, y que nunca podrá ser olvidada.

Talking about the cinema of the 90's is talking about one of the most productive and impressive decades in the history of cinematography in terms of entertainment.
Little by little, the special effects that had seen light in the 80's were taking on new dimensions and making the wildest fantasies of many daring directors come true.
One of the first to carry out a colossal work in that nineties was our friend James Cameron.
After delighting us and making many scream with emotion with his Terminator in 1986, he set himself the challenge of surpassing what had been seen and taking it to another level.
In 1992 comes what for me is my favorite movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger and what I consider to have been the best action movie ever shot (although it is true that Mad Max Fury Road is a more than worthy competitor for this imaginary award).

Obviously you have to use reasons to defend said statement and why it takes my favoritism, and here are mine:
Full Action
It is difficult a film where the action is distributed throughout it. Terminator 2 does not give the viewer a break, filling almost its entire duration with fast-paced, exciting and very well shot scenes.
There are few examples of the above in the history of cinema, it is difficult to find movies where the action scenes speak, instead of the dialogues. Other worthy examples take them: Mad Max 2, Mad Max: Fury Road or Aliens.
The protagonists
Action movies don't always need brilliant performances loaded with drama to leave memorable characters, and Terminator 2 proves it.
We have two simply brilliant transformations of two of the characters who starred in Terminator in '86.
Sarah Connor
She is part of the select gallery of female characters who have carved out a place for themselves in the list of great characters in action movies, along with Ripley and Furiosa.
Sober, strong and unforgettable Linda Hamilton.
T-800
The machine that wanted to annihilate the Connors and that spread fear in the 1986 film was able to win all our sympathy and affection by fulfilling the task of defending John Connor with all his integrity. The role that immortalized Schwarzenneger as one of the best action figures of all time.
John Connor
The human bond that history needs, Edward Furlong will always be remembered for this great work, impossible not to have felt identified with John, especially having been a child in the 90's and wanting to experience an adventure as exciting as his.
T-1000
The villain who doesn't have to speak to sow terror wherever he goes. Probably the most insistent, stubborn, and best accomplished villain in the entire genre. A super cyborg prepared to fulfill his objectives in an unstoppable way.
Special effects:
Undoubtedly, James Cameron achieved a perfect balance between practical effects and an impressive CGI for the time (which is worth noting, it is still valid and has aged tremendously), just as Steven Spielberg would do with his Jurassic Park a year later.
How the T-1000 transforms its material state, especially the scene that goes through the fence of the psychiatric hospital, the destruction of the vehicles, how the T-800 deteriorates as the battle takes its toll on it, form the collage of images that They always remain in my memory.
BSO
Perhaps Brad Friedel's BSO is not among the most memorable in the history of the seventh art, but without a doubt it radiates personality, sobriety and that '90s sound that characterized the action movies of those glorious years, when its soundtrack plays its last piece and opens the credits, marks the end of a story that we never wanted to see end, and that can never be forgotten.
