De verdad es refrescante encontrar películas que renuevan la temática de vampiros creando una nueva historia en un periodo y ambiente remoto. La calidad de Sinners no se debe únicamente por su excelente fotografía oscura y flashback bien puestos en escena, sino porque se toma el tiempo en su compleja narrativa, en que podamos conocer más el entorno y a los personajes que van a desempeñar un papel importante dentro de la historia.

Sí bien, es un poco chocante la transición de géneros; ya que de repente, estamos viendo una película de época y todos los elementos de la misma, y luego, a mitad de la película, pasamos al ámbito sobrenatural, que se arraiga para deconstruir todo el drama que se iba gestando hasta mitad de la película.

Estos dos panoramas, nos hacen entender, que esta no es otra película exclusiva sobre vampiros, o una película de terror convencional, aquí nos hablan de muchas cosas más: como la búsqueda de la paz, la salvación, el consuelo y el perdón, en un mundo donde tienes que regirte sobre bases ya establecidas, en las cuales, sí te sales de ellas, estás haciendo todo mal.

Con esta idea, ahora logro encontrarle más sentido al título de la película y la figura de los vampiros dentro de ella. El vampiro representa la salvación y el olvido de un pasado doloroso. Cada palabra que evoca va en contra de toda estructura religiosa, política y social, ofreciendo en vez de ello, una vida llena de libertad en base a la hermandad y el sentimiento mutuo.

Obviamente son ideas muy atractivas, y el antagonista de esta historia las utiliza muy bien para lograr sus objetivos. Al finalizar, te das cuenta que todo ese sufrimiento es reemplazado por el deseo de sobrevivir y luchar, de lograr los objetivos que aún están por alcanzarse y las fuerzas que añades a ello.

Sinners, utilizando una estructura narrativa profunda, infiere más en el dolor que en la idea de salvación, hasta el punto de asimilarlo y convertirlo en algo más poderoso que funcione mejor para la supervivencia.

Conclusiones

La nueva película de Ryan Coogler: Sinners, nos trae una historia nueva y diferente sobre vampiros, en la que estos entes forman parte de una estructura narrativa más compleja. Su fotografía oscura, aunada a buenas actuaciones y fuertes escenas de acción, la hacen una película memorable y muy entretenida para el espectador atento y exigente. Si bien, la película es muy lenta a veces y su transición de un género a otro puede ser un poco chocante, no le quita el mérito de ser una de las películas de terror más espectaculares de este año.

Sí tienen la oportunidad de verla aquellos que no la han visto, gócenla, pero con mucha atención.
