Personalmente, me encantan las películas que se hacen basándose en los cuentos clásicos, como Peter Pan, Blancanieves y La Sirenita, sin embargo, lamentablemente, de todos no podemos decir que son obras maestras. La historia es fascinante, sobre todo cuando se toma desde el punto de vista de un personaje antagonista. En este film, hay un elemento básico que vemos en toda la historia y es la obsesión. Elvira, quiere encajar en los estándares de belleza solo para que el príncipe se fije en ella; lo que denota el deseo intrínseco de una mente encasillada, capaz de cometer los actos más repugnantes y dolorosos con tal de lograr lo que quiere. Tocado con sátira y humor, la película también nos remonta a un terreno más oscuro del cuento clásico; la venta de la belleza como recurso más importante y el tesoro más importante que hay que tener. La juventud femenina ingenua, que es vista como carne fresca y apetecible por parte de hombres lujuriosos y enfermos, y la falta de empatía en un mundo donde si no puedes lograr tus objetivos, no eres nadie.

Al igual que su colega del mismo género, toca un tema sensible sobre la belleza que hasta el día de hoy sigue siendo importante. La historia es muy interesante, desde el punto de vista de una de las hermanastras de Cenicienta, tocando temas como la obsesión y la belleza, los cuales, al combinarse, se genera un coctel de autodestrucción para la protagonista principal. No me pareció para nada aburrida en sus casi dos horas que dura. Tiene un enfoque muy bueno además de poseer una fotografía y vestuario adecuados para las escenas y el contexto de cada uno. La recomiendo y espero que puedan verla.

Elvia wants to fit the standards of beauty just so that the prince will notice her, which denotes the intrinsic desire of a pigeonhole mind, capable of committing the most repugnant and painful acts to get what she wants. Touched with satire and humor, the film also takes us back to a darker terrain of the classic tale, the selling of beauty as the most important resource and the most important treasure to have. Naïve female youth, who are seen as fresh and palatable meat by lustful and sick men, and the lack of empathy in a world where, if you can't achieve your goals, you're nobody.

In the context of Agnes, who later becomes Cinderella, before her stepmother and stepsisters enslave her, it seems that everything is easy, as the film gives us that realistic glimpse that beautiful people with personality do better in life than the physically ungraceful, and it expressively touches on this message coming from the classic fairy tale by comparing it to today and the established canons of beauty.
