Anikulapo (Movie Review) | A Tale Of Greed And Betrayer The Destroyer Of Trust

I have been in anticipation waiting for this particular movie to be on netflix since I watch the trailer when I saw it in the coming soon section, I so much love nollywood movies among others especially the one that look interesting right from the trailer view and also knowing those taking part in the movies. What actually caught my attention apart from the story is this two characters which are Sola Sobowole who is the main actress in the King of boys, that movie make me love her and also start watching her movies, the other person is Bimbo Ademoye who is also an amazing actress and also a funny person especially on her tik tok account, one other thing that caught my attention was that the movie is full of popular actors and actresses, it was like they collection of all which make it more interesting.

The movie was centered on a man named saro who was a traveler and he came all the way from gbogan to ibadan to find end meet as an aso oke weaver but he came empty handed with the hope of partnering with someone but things didnt go as he planned it to be, he was lucky enough to meet this woman named aworun who own a clay pot factory where they make clay pot from scratch, she was into younger man and this made her took Saro in as her sugar boy who pleases her romantically. She also advices Saro to work with her for the main time while he gather money to start his own textile business, He listened to her since there is no choice for him. Saro was warned not to get attached with aworun or else she will turn him to an errand boy but he didnt listen and alone the way he got jealous when he caught her sleeping with another man.

Things start getting worse when Saro meet with the Youngest queen Arolake who was wasnt happy been a queen because it was against her consent and also she was barren, this made other queens ridicule her, she wasnt happy. She fell in love with Saro or should I say both love each other at some point and decided to elope but their plan failed, Saro was caught and beaten to death, but one mystery happened when Saro was resurrected by a bird called Akala (Yoruba's history believe the bird have some powers in raising the death that die before their time), still have to read more on that because I dont understand too. Nevertheless before the bird resurrect him, Arolake chase it away which made the bird accidently drop a gourd which is believe to be its resurrecting power.

To cut it short, Saro start using the power to resurrect people which made him famous and rich because he started receiving gift in cash and food but this power and riches made him blind to the one that sacrifices everything for him and also stood by him, since Arolake was barren and didnt give him any child, Saro slept with her maid without informing his wife, She wasnt happy because she felt betrayed and was afraid of been maltreated again. Saro didnt care about her anymore, married another wife and planned to forcefully marry the king daughter when he find out the king heir die and he had to resurrect him.

Due to the fact that he maltreat Arolake and got blind because of the power and riches, She took her load and left but before she left, she destory the power in the gourd which render Saro powerless and useless which prevent him from resurrecting the king heir. We really dont know what end the movie, if they kill Saro or banish him from the village, also the mystery bird story is unknown but it was interesting with lot of life lesson not to be greedy in looking for wealth or power. Never forget or maltreat those who sacrifices everything they have to see you succeed in life, Saro forget this part, and maltreat Arolake who later render him useless and powerless.
