Alien Earth (2025) – The series i misjudged and that got me harder than i expected.

I don't know about others, but i have that special talent for ignoring the good things. Alien Earth is the perfect example. When it came out in 2025, i said "come on, let it go, another pseudo-documentary sci-fi, it's sure to be something boring, with people looking into the camera and explaining things". And i left it there, on that eternal list of "maybe i'll watch it someday".

Well... big mistake. Because Alien Earth is neither boring, nor documentary, nor something made on the knee. It's a series that starts slowly, almost timid, but that hits you with such a well-constructed atmosphere that you end up wondering how the hell you could have underestimated it.

The 8 episodes are just right: neither too many, nor too few. Each episode adds a piece to this cosmic puzzle where the Earth goes crazy, phenomena appear that no one can explain, and humanity enters a combination of panic, science, politics, and "let's hope we don't all die."

What i liked most is that the series doesn't rush. It doesn't jump straight to aliens jumping out of bushes or special effects thrown in just for the sake of it. No. Alien Earth builds tension slowly, methodically, like a thriller that knows exactly what it's doing. And when everything starts to come together... you start to feel like you're there, in the middle of the chaos.

The atmosphere is dense, oppressive, but in the best possible way. The characters are surprisingly human, with believable reactions, not drawn-out lines. And, honestly, the series manages to be emotional without becoming syrupy — which is rare in sci-fi.

Why is it worth watching??....because it's not just a series about aliens or strange phenomena. It's a series about us. About fear. About the limits of knowledge. About what we do when reality gets out of our control and we have to choose between truth, survival and morality.

It's the kind of series that not only keeps you hooked, but also makes you think. And that's more valuable than any special effect.

  • If at first it seems banal, after a few episodes you realize that it's the exact opposite: a production with soul, intention and a clear vision. A series that can't just be seen, but felt.

And if you're like me and you've been putting it off, do yourself a favor and give it a chance. You might discover that you've been ignoring one of the best sci-fi series of recent years.
