Recommendation Alien: Earth. Of aliens and machines that are not machines. [Eng/Esp]

Hello to those of you who enjoy a good series!

I hope you are very well. Today I bring you a series that I'm watching and I think it's very good. At first I was reluctant to watch it, because I'm one of those people who lose interest in series and I get bored quickly, but as soon as I saw the first chapter, I got hooked and I could only think: What will be next?

This series is called Alien: earth which belongs to the film saga called Alien. For those who are familiar with the saga, the story is set two years before the original 1979 film, which tells the story of Ridley Scott. Despite this, I don't see it as a series where you have to know all the details of the saga or have seen another installment before.

The series is set in the year 2120, where the world is dominated by 5 mega corporations that run life on planet earth. Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Dynamic, Lynch and Threshold. Of these mega corporations, the series focuses on Prodigy, newer than the previous ones and founded by a boy: Boy Kavalier nicknamed the "boy genius", a precocious and manipulative young man, whose intelligence leads him to play god.

Years before the central events of the series, determined to "end" death, Boy decided to create synthetic human bodies of adults and transfer the consciousnesses of an unspecified number of children with various terminal illnesses, whose families were made to believe they had died. Alluding to this, he named them after the story of Peter Pan, giving the once "children" the names of the lost children in the tale.

Prominent among these children is "Wendy", a girl in a synthetic adult body. She is supposed to be the first child to be made synthetic and shown great favour, because Wendy has more advanced abilities and development than the others, especially more maturity. The problem is that Wendy clings to the older brother she left behind.

But soon the two siblings are reunited when the Weyland-Yutani-owned spaceship USCSS Maginot crashes to Earth, bringing with it a variety of deep space creatures, including the notorious Xenomorph, which killed all but one of the ship's crew: security officer Morrow, a modified human. Wendy's brother Hermit, a member of the rescue squad, is trapped by the Xenomorph and Wendy will do anything to save her brother, including going against the man who gave him a new life.

Sooner rather than later, Prodigy gets his hands on the creatures, but Morrow will stop at nothing to get them back, while Wendy forms a deep connection with the Xenomorphs and the question begins to arise "When is a machine not a machine?"

The series from the first instant hooked me, the story and characters seem to me to be very well developed, fierce and gripping, while making a great combination between horror and suspense that comes with that moral dilemma of whether these "hybrids" are still children just because their consciousness is in those bodies.

The issue with these "children" in synthetic adult bodies is absolutely insane, although the Prodigy team of scientists try to make them grow up "mentally", trying to recreate stages such as adolescence, this is not quite achieved, so many show great immaturity or even imbalance. One of them, in her existential crises, believes that her mood swings are due to the fact that she is "pregnant" and she is not the only one who begins to question her existence or starts to look at herself in the mirror too harshly.

Although in one part it breaks with the canon by placing the Xenomorphs before the events of Alien (1979), it still has the essence of the first instalments of the saga. Combining very well the comic horror with the existential crises that more than one character has in the series.

The characters are very good, as are the relationships they manage, but ultimately, my favourite dynamic is that of the siblings, even though there remains the uncomfortable doubt as to whether Wendy is still Hermit's sister. The biological and psychological horror is very good and so is the CGI. All the creatures that appear are scary and the story improves as the episodes progress.It's not a sleepless fright but it's good enough for this genre.

Espero que se encuentren bien. Hoy les traigo por recomendación una serie que estoy viendo y me parece muy buena. En un principio estaba reticente a verla, porque soy de las personas que pierden interés rápido en las series y me aburren rápido, pero apenas vi el primer episodio, quedé enganchada y solo podía pensar: ¿Qué sigue?

Esta serie se llama Alíen: earth que pertenece a la saga de películas denominadas Alíen. Para quien esté familiarizado con la saga, la historia se sitúa dos años antes de la película original de 1979, que cuenta la historia de Ridley Scott. A pesar de esto, no la veo como una serie en la cual tengan que saber cada detalle de la saga o haber visto otra entrega con antelación.

La serie se desarrolla en el año 2120, donde el mundo se encuentra dominado por 5 mega corporaciones que dirigen la vida en el planeta tierra. Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Dynamic, Lynch y Threshold. De estas mega corporaciones, la serie se enfoca en Prodigy, más nueva que las anteriores y fundada por un niño: Boy Kavalier apodado como el “niño genio”, un joven precoz y manipulador, cuya inteligencia lo lleva a jugar a ser dios.

Años antes de los eventos centrales que desarrolla la serie, decidido con “acabar” con la muerte, Boy decide crear cuerpos humanos sintéticos de adultos y traspasar las conciencias de un número no especificado de niños con diversas enfermedades terminales, de cuyas familias hizo creer que habían muerto. Haciendo alusión a esto, les puso nombres referentes al cuento de Peter Pan, dándoles a los que alguna vez fueron “niños”, los nombres que tenían los niños perdidos del cuento.

De entre estos niños destaca “Wendy”, una niña en un cuerpo sintético de adulta. Se presume que es la primera niña a la que volvió sintética y a la que muestra un gran favoritismo, debido a que Wendy presenta habilidades y un desarrollo más avanzado que los demás, sobre todo más madurez. ¿El problema?, Wendy se aferra al hermano mayor que dejó atrás.

Pero pronto ambos hermanos se reencuentran cuando la nave espacial USCSS Maginot propiedad de Weyland-Yutani, se estrella contra la tierra, trayendo consigo una variedad de criaturas del espacio profundo, entre ellas el famoso Xenomorfo, quien mato a todos los tripulantes de la nave, exceptuando a uno: el oficial de seguridad Morrow, un humano modificado. El hermano de Wendy, Hermit perteneciente al escuadrón de rescate, es atrapado por el Xenomorfo y Wendy hará lo que sea para salvar a su hermano, incluso ir en contra del hombre que le dio una nueva vida.

Más pronto que tarde, Prodigy se hace con las criaturas, pero Morrow no se detendrá ante nada para recuperarlas, mientras Wendy forma una conexión profunda con los Xenomorfos y empieza a surgir la pregunta “¿Cuándo una máquina no es una máquina?”

La serie desde el primer instante me enganchó, la historia y los personajes me parece muy bien desarrollada, es feroz y atrayente, a la vez que hace una gran combinación entre horror y suspenso que viene acompañado de ese dilema moral de si esos “híbridos” siguen siendo niños solo porque sus conciencias estén en esos cuerpos.

El asunto con esos “niños” en cuerpos sintéticos de adultos, es una absoluta locura, aunque el equipo de científicos de Prodigy trata de que “mentalmente” crezcan, tratando de recrear etapas como la adolescencia, no se logra totalmente, por lo que muchos presentan una gran inmadurez o incluso desequilibrios. Una en sus crisis existenciales cree que sus cambios de humor son porque está “embarazada” y no es la única que empieza a cuestionar su existencia o empezar a verse al espejo con demasiado ahínco.

Aunque en una parte rompe con el canon al situar a los Xenomorfo antes de los eventos de Alíen (1979), aún tiene esa esencia de las primeras entregas de la saga. Combinando muy bien el terror cómico con las crisis existenciales que más de un personaje tiene en la serie.

Los personajes son muy buenos, así como las relaciones que manejan, pero, en definitiva, mi dinámica favorita es la de los hermanos, a pesar de que sigue la inquietud de sí Wendy sigue siendo la hermana de Hermit. El terror biológico y psicológico es muy bueno y el CGI también. Todas las criaturas que salen están de miedo y la historia en sí solo parece mejorar conforme avanzan los capítulos. No es un terpara no dormir pero es lo suficientemente bueno para este género.
