Recommendation Sinners: When Music Becomes a Call to Darkness [Eng/Esp]

I bring you a review and recommendation of a movie that I was waiting for a long time to be released and that I particularly liked a lot, both the plot, the characters and the characterization.
The movie is called Sinners, released this year. A film with a new and daring story, innovative in cinema and not based on an existing intellectual property. This story transports us to the past, one not lived by those reading this, but one that makes us (or at least me) wonder what it would have felt like to be there.
This story mixes southern drama, classic old west action, gothic type horror, supernatural fantasy, folklore (like stories of what not to do that adults tell you) and music that makes our skin crawl and transports us through eras and eras of evolution through music.
The film opens with a young African-American boy covered in blood, dyed terror on his face and a guitar in his hand, as he enters the church and asks his father for forgiveness, but this is not the beginning of the story.
The story is set in 1932 Mississippi and introduces us to twin brothers Elijah “smoke” Moore and Elias “Stack” Moore (both characters played by Michael B. Jordan), both brothers decide to return to their hometown after long years living in Chicago working for Al Capone's mob, having amassed a considerable sum of money and with the desire to return to their hometown and open a blues bar for the local African-American community.
The site purchased for the creation of the bar was an old sawmill abandoned even by God. The original owner, a white racist landowner, is warned by both brothers that they will defend the place even from the Ku Klux Klan, who only retreats, calling them exaggerators.
Both brothers arrange and condition the place with the idea of opening it that same night, so they decide to recruit their cousin Sammie to play his guitar, but this is not approved by Sammie's father and uncle of the twins, because there are legends that certain music attracts the evil hidden in the darkness, Sammie dismisses the warnings of his father. In addition to Sammie they recruit local musician and alcoholic, Delta Slim to play the piano and beautiful singer Pearline, not knowing what would be unleashed that night.
As the story progresses we discover the personal stories left behind by both brothers, Stack had a former lover left by him in Chicago named Mary who, despite being married, claims to love him, and Smooke with his former lover Annie, who left in town after losing her daughter, a woman closely linked to African spiritual practices, who gives him a bag for his protection.
As more characters are added to the plot, in the hidden and dark of this is weaving a threat, represented by a vampire presence called Remmick a vampire who transforms members of the Ku Klux Klan into vampires and whose target is the music that Sammie can play and makes invoke spirits just by playing his guitar. The music of many eras of history and that is capable of gladdening the souls of beings full of hate and rage that no longer have it and for that reason a carnage will be unleashed.
The story presents a mystical and spiritual environment, depicted in legends and spiritual presences both good and bad. There is one particular scene in the film that looked amazing and represented years of African history and black culture. Despite the mystique behind the story, there is also conflict, in addition to the massacre to come, and it's social critique towards the racism and segregation that was prevalent at the time, though not overplayed, so in my opinion the film works at a good pace.
Vampirism, rather than a mythical representation of a monster or spirit, departs from the conventional canons of film and television, and is embraced as the escape from human suffering and social acceptance as individuals.
The music is especially the central axis of the film and the one that gives it that mystical tone. The form and essence in which it is presented to us is beautiful and transformative, not only as a way to connect souls, but to open portals. The music is composed as the cultural heritage of thousands of years and the story told through it is SIMPLY MAGNIFICENT, due to the fact that it is not presented as the image, but as the identity.

Les traigo una reseña y recomendación de una película que estuve esperando por mucho tiempo que estrenaran y que en particular me gustó mucho, tanto la trama, los personajes y la caracterización.
La película se titula Sinners, estrenada este mismo año. Una película con una historia nueva y osada, innovadora en el cine y no basada en una propiedad intelectual ya existente. Esta historia nos transporta al pasado, uno no vivido por los que leen esto, pero que nos hace pensar (o por lo menos a mí) lo que se hubiera sentido estar ahí.
Esta historia mezcla un drama sureño, acción clásica como del viejo oeste, terror del tipo gótico, fantasía sobrenatural, folklor (como historias de lo que no debes hacer que los adultos te cuentan) y música que al sonar nos hace erizar la piel y transportarnos a lo largo de eras y eras de evolución a través de la música.
La película inicia con un joven afroamericano cubierto de sangre, terror teñido en su rostro y una guitarra en la mano, mientras entra en la iglesia y le pide perdón a su padre, pero este no es el inicio de la historia.
La historia se encuentra ambientada en el Misisipi de 1932 y nos presenta a los hermanos gemelos Elijah “smoke” Moore y Elias “Stack” Moore (ambos personajes interpretados por Michael B. Jordan), ambos hermanos deciden regresar a su pueblo natal, después de largos años viviendo en Chicago trabajando para la mafia de Al Capone, habiendo amasado una suma considerable de dinero y con el deseo de regresar a su pueblo de origen y abrir un bar de blues para la comunidad afroamericana del lugar.
El lugar comprado para la creación del bar era un viejo aserradero abandonado hasta por Dios. El dueño original, un terrateniente blanco y racista, es advertido por ambos hermanos de que defenderán ese lugar hasta del Ku Klux Klan, este solo se retira tratándolos de exagerados.
Ambos hermanos arreglan y acondicionan el lugar con la idea de abrirlos esa misma noche, por eso deciden reclutar a su primo Sammie para que toque su guitarra, pero esto no es aprobado por el padre de Sammie y tío de los gemelos, debido a que existe leyendas de que cierta música atrae el mal oculto en la oscuridad, Sammie descarta las advertencias de su padre. Además de Sammie reclutan al músico local y alcohólico, Delta Slim para que toque el piano y a la hermosa cantante Pearline, sin saber lo que se desataría esa noche.
A medida que avanza la historia descubrimos las historias personales y dejadas atrás por ambos hermanos, Stack tenía una antigua amante dejada por él en Chicago de nombre Mary quien, a pesar de estar casada, afirma amarlo, y Smooke con su ex amante Annie, quien dejo en el pueblo después de haber perdido a su hija, una mujer muy ligada a las prácticas espirituales africanas, quién le da una bolsa para su protección.
Mientras más personajes se van agregando a la trama, en lo oculto y oscuro de esta se viene entretejiendo una amenaza, representada por una presencia vampírica llamada Remmick un vampiro que transforma en vampiros a miembros del Ku Klux Klan y cuyo objetivo es la música que Sammie puede tocar y hace invocar espíritus con solo tocar su guitarra. La música de muchas eras de historia y que es capaz de alegrar el alma a seres llenos de odio y de rabia que ya no la tienen y que por ello se desatara una carnicería.
La historia presenta un entorno místico y espiritual, representado en leyendas y presencias espirituales tanto buenas como malas. Hay una escena en particular de la película que se veía increíble y que representaba años de historia africana y de la cultura negra. A pesar de la mística detrás de la historia, también se presentan conflictos, además de la masacre por venir, y es la crítica social hacia el racismo y la segregación que predominaba en esa época, aunque no sobreexplotada, por lo que a mi parecer la película trabaja en un buen ritmo.
El vampirismo, más que una representación mítica de un monstruo o espíritu, se aleja de los cánones convencionales del cine y la televisión, y se adopta como el escape al sufrimiento humano y la aceptación social como individuos.
La música es en especial el eje central de la película y la que le da ese tono místico. La forma y esencia en la que se nos presenta es hermosa y transformadora, no solo como una forma de conectar almas, sino de abrir portales. La música se compone como la herencia cultural de miles de años y la historia que se cuenta a través de ella es SIMPLEMENTE MAGNÍFICA, debido a que no se presenta como la imagen, sino como la identidad.

STOPLa vi hace poquito y tenía muchísimas ganas de verla, pero la verdad es que no me encantó, aunque tuvo muchas cosas buenas, no lo voy a negar, pero no se, me esperaba otra cosa.

Eso ya depende del gusto, a mí me encantó y me entretuvo y a mi mamá se le hizo algo larga.
Así mismo es, cómo dicen por ahí, entre gustos y colores... la verdad yo no soy fan de peli de vampiros. Me gustan los thrillers psicológicos,gore, terror jaj
Ujum a mi también me gustan mucho de esos géneros, de hecho estoy preparando uno de terror y horror psicológico.
Mi única razón para tenerla en pendientes por ver son los vampiros pero tú reseña me hace esperar más
Jajajaja espero que cumpla tus expectativas, por mi parte me gustó mucho, en el sentido de que es como una historia nueva, diferente a las multiples secuelas y remakes de las mismas historias ya contadas en el cine.
