A REVIEW ON TYLER PERRY'S A JAZZMAN BLUES.

A JAZZMAN BLUES is set in the 1940's to 1980's in American, when racism was the order of the day, when the blacks where still treated with so much hatred and discomfort.

This movie is a love story and also a tragic story , it explores the theme of love, death, jealousy, betrayal, deceit and racism. The beginning of this movie can be traced to 1988, where Bayou mother tries to uncover the death of her son Bayou which happened in 1940's, by handing his letters and diary to his son who happens to be a Mayor, but wasn't aware his father was black and also we saw Leanne who battled with guilt and the remembrance of Bayou even in her old age at the end .

The story revolves and centers around Bayou and Leanne , their love and adventure. Leanne was mixed race, but looked more like a white lady. Bayou's crime was falling in love with Leanne .The beginning was so interesting, started with music among the blacks , which is one of their heritage , then went further to seeing Bayou and Leanne , getting to know each other, reading under the tree all night and enjoying each other's company.
It tells how his love for Leanne lead to his death and how he was betrayed by his own brother when he was about eloping with the love of his life and child, because of jealousy.

Bayou was from a family of four, his family had crisis , because his father hated him, sees him as a slow learner and preferred his elder brother, always treated his elder brother better than him. Bayou's father was also a drunkard . So Bayou was closer to his mother. Bayou's mother was so full of love and loved her two sons dearly.

So his brothers betrayal can be traced to how his father raised both sons with hatred and gave preferential treatment to one.
Bayou's family was known for music, his mother ran an only black bar. Bayou was an excellent singer, more than his brother. His brother became a drug addict and always blamed his misfortune on his brother Bayou.

Leanne happens to be his first love , she taught him how to read and regain his confidence, and Bayou couldn't stop loving her.
Leanne and Bayou separated as teenagers but never stopped loving each other, Bayou wrote letters to her but her mother never allowed them get to her.

The theme of deceit can be seen in the life of Leanne and her mom, she deceived the white into believing Leanne was white, because she had more attributes of a white person than a black person, she was mixed.
Her mom used that as an opportunity to get her into a loveless marriage her whole life, lied about Bayou , which made him to leave the south side to New York, where he improved his music career, but lost his life when he came back years after to elope with his Leanne and his child.

In this movie you find some restrictions given to the blacks , the theme of racism is very predominant, separated sits for the colored in buses, minial job opportunities for the blacks and little or no freedom.

I wish it was an happy ending for Bayou, because he was so innocent, loved Leanne genuinely, but died on a three like a thief.

The choice of music used in this movie is also interesting, you are not just enjoying a creative mindset, but also an excellent music.

The storyline and plot twist is really intriguing, the pure love, down to the tragic part is really emotional and will make will cry, the cast did justice to every role . It's a good movie and I will recommend at all time .
