Como están el día de hoy?. Yo feliz con una nueva película que acabo de ver hace muy muy poco. Esta película que hoy quiero comentar, me ha dejado algo sorprendida, pero para mi, era más que esperable de la casa de películas A24.
How are you today? I'm happy with a new movie that I just saw very very recently. This movie that I want to comment today, has left me a little surprised, but for me, it was more than expected from the movie house A24.
Hablo de la pelicula Pearl que fue estrenada en el año 2022. Este film es la precuela de la película X en la que también aparece una actriz principal.
I'm talking about the movie Pearl which was released in the year 2022. This film is the prequel to the movie X in which also appears a main actress.

La película se encuentra ambientada en el año 1918, aquí conocemos la historia de una granja muy alejada del pueblo, la cual es habitada por Pearl, una adolecente con el sueño de brillar en tarimas como bailarina, y sus padres. Su padre es actualmente un hombre enfermo al que hay que tenerle muchísimos cuidados gracias a su complicada enfermedad que lo deja en silla de ruedas.
The film is set in the year 1918, here we know the story of a farm far away from the town, which is inhabited by Pearl, a teenager with the dream of shining on stage as a dancer, and her parents. Her father is currently a sick man who needs a lot of care thanks to his complicated illness that leaves him in a wheelchair.
Vemos como en este tiempo de guerra, todo el mundo está obligado a llevar mascarillas por una extraña enfermedad (tal cual como con la reciente pandemia de covid).
We see how in this time of war, everyone is forced to wear masks because of a strange disease (as with the recent covid pandemic).
Pearl junto a su madre, es la encargada de cuidar a su enfermo padre, lo cual a nuestra protagonista no le hace muy feliz, ya que llega a sentir que sus buenos años se le van en cuidar a su enfermo padre y a los animales de la granja. Pearl siempre daba espectáculos y bailes para los animales de la granja, ya que según ella eran los únicos que le prestarian atención
Pearl, along with her mother, is in charge of taking care of her sick father, which doesn't make our protagonist very happy, since she feels that her good years are spent taking care of her sick father and the farm animals. Pearl always gave shows and dances for the farm animals, since according to her they were the only ones who would pay attention to her.
Todo suena muy lindo, hasta que empezamos a ver las verdaderas actitudes de Pearl a ciertas cosas. Nuestra protagonista tiene una parte muy oscura la cual termina siento muy macabra en la película. Pearl sin ningún tipo de pudor, asesina a un ganso con un rastrillo, y va directamente a dárselo de comer a un cocodrilo que tiene en un lago cercano a la casa. Entendemos que Pearl muy bien de sus facultades mentales no está, y realmente no es algo que parece preocuparle.
It all sounds very nice, until we start to see Pearl's true attitudes to certain things. Our protagonist has a very dark side which ends up feeling very macabre in the film. Pearl shamelessly kills a goose with a rake, and goes directly to feed it to a crocodile she has in a lake near the house. We understand that Pearl's mental faculties are not very good, and it's not really something that seems to bother her.
También vemos otro lado más ¨humano¨ de Pearl, por así decirlo. Esta chica se pasa sus días esperando y extrañando a su querido Howard, el cual se encuentra actualmente en la guerra y con suerte puede mandarle una o dos cartas de vez en cuando a nuestra protagonista gracias a sus ocupaciones y pocas oportunidades para comunicarse
We also see another, more human side of Pearl, so to speak. This girl spends her days waiting and missing her beloved Howard, who is currently away at war and hopefully can send her a letter or two from time to time thanks to his busy schedule and few opportunities to communicate.
Un día su madre envía a Pearl al pueblo a comprar ciertas cosas que su padre necesitaba. Al hacer esto Pearl decide además de pasar por los farmacia, decide ir al teatro y ver una actuación musical con unas bailarinas para poder pasar un rato agradable
One day her mother sends Pearl to town to buy certain things her father needed. In doing so, Pearl decides to go to the pharmacy and go to the theater and see a musical performance with some dancers to have a nice time.
En lo que Pearl va saliendo, se topa con un hombre el cual le comenta que es el proteccionista del cine. Este al ver lo emocionada que estaba estaba con la película, decide regalarle un pedazo del royo de la película, y además le ofrece un cigarro para tener un rato más ameno

Luego de este suceso, sigue su camino y llega a casa. Aquí su madre le dice que ha tardado demasiado y que deje sus mundos de fantasía en los que ella sabe que esta metida. En la noche, en la cena, su madre le dice que lo mejor es estar aislados gracias a la pandemia, y que por eso debe ir menos al pueblo.
After this event, he continues on his way and arrives home. Here her mother tells her that she has taken too long and to leave her fantasy worlds in which she knows she is involved. In the evening, at dinner, her mother tells her that it is best to be isolated because of the pandemic, and that is why she should go to town less.

The next day, her mother-in-law comes to her house with her sister-in-law, hotwads sister. Pearl gets excited but the cousin quickly has to leave, as her mother-in-law has brought her mother a cooked pig and her mother hasn't taken it at all well. She tells her that they are not poor and that she doesn't have to bring her food. At this her mother-in-law leaves the pig on the floor and leaves with her daughter, Pearl's sister-in-law.

Luego de esto, Pearl hace pasar al hombre y le presenta a su padre. Esta lo lleva a su cuarto para tener relaciones y hacer otro tipo de cosas. El hombre al notar ciertos ruidos no está muy cómodo y decide detener todo con esta chica. Pearl le afirma que son sonidos del sótano ya que ahí tienen encerrado a su perro
After this, Pearl shows the man in and introduces him to her father. She takes him to her room to have sex and do other things. The man noticing certain noises is not very comfortable and decides to stop everything with this girl. Pearl tells him that they are sounds from the basement as they keep their dog locked up there.
Minutos más tarde, ambos están en el granero viendo a los animales. El hombre curioso le pregunta a Pearl el nombre de su perro, a lo que esta contesta que no tienen perro. Minutes later, they are both in the barn watching the animals. The curious man asks Pearl the name of her dog, to which she replies that they don't have a dog. At this point the whole lie is revealed to which the projectionist decides to leave because of the strange things he knows are going on.
Mientras trata de irse, Pearl lo persigue con un rastrillo y lo apuñala directamente en el pecho. Mientras hace esto le dice que nadie cortara sus sueños y que está cansada de no poder conseguir lo que quiere. Paso seguido, termina de acabar con su vida.
As he tries to leave, Pearl chases him with a rake and stabs him directly in the chest. As she does this she tells him that no one will cut off her dreams and that she is tired of not being able to get what she wants. Next, she finishes ending his life.

La chica sale de la casa tratando de disimular el miedo y pánico que siente por Pearl. En lo que empieza a salir ve como desde la puerta de la casa sale Pearl con un hacha, y empieza a correr tras de ella

Personalmente comparto una opinión que muchos en este momento tendrá. Esta película es muy perturbadora mostrando el lado psicópata que puede llegar a tener ciertas personas por sus intereses propios.

Siento que la casa de películas A24 no tiene el mérito que merece por cosas del estilo, las cuales aunque son perturbadoras, obviamente tiene su espacio en el cine como películas de terror populares

Bastante traumática esta película, uno quiere que se salven y ninguno lo logra, prácticamente Pearl se sale con la suya. Es muy buena peli, bueno dentro de lo normal, no es épica, pero está buena, te recomiendo ver La casa De Jack, es bastante enferma también jeje
